With ocean breeze and the soft hum of the city in the background, It’s an amazing realisation how the simplicity of a moment like this can create space for the profound insights in us. Just like these waves, life can be unpredictable as well — sometimes chaotic, sometimes calm. They could have brought up the idea of detachment as a way to experience life without becoming overwhelmed by the uncertainty and change that it inevitably brings. Unknown to the millions commuting on Mumbai’s railway network every day, a band of warriors is quietly fighting on their behalf. Coming from varied professional backgrounds; a scientist, an engineer or management grads, they are pooling in their expertise for a common goal --- to make #PublicTransport & #UrbanMobility better for #Mumbai. Up against the #IndianRailways, a behemoth whose administrative machinery is wrapped in red tape, these bravehearts are campaigning for better services, improved safety, and a more efficient railway system. Rather than opting for the age-old method of stopping trains & coming down on rail tracks to protest; they are utilizing social media platforms to raise their points and reach out to the public and the administration.

Driving Without Honking: A 2-Day experience from West Delhi to Gurgaon and return Yesterday and today, I undertook a challenge to drive from West Delhi to Gurgaon (25km) and back without honking. It turned out to be a fascinating and insightful experience. Challenges Faced 1. Heavy Traffic: Navigating through peak office time without honking was tough. 2. Unpredictable Drivers: Dealing with sudden lane changeing drivers tested patience. 3. Pedestrians & Bikers: Ensuring safety for pedestrians and bikers without using the horn required extra vigilance. Benefits Experienced: 1. Surprisingly, not honking made the drive much calmer and more focused. 2. I was more alert and mindful of my surroundings. 3. It contributed to noise pollution reduction, even if a bit Key Learnings 1. Being patient helps navigate challenging driving situations effectively. In life too patience helps sail through challenging situations effectively 2. Using indicators and eye contact improved my ability to communicate intentions without honking. 3. Adapting to a different driving style broadened my perspective on road behavior. Adaptability helps tackle unforeseen challenges and turn them into opportunities. 5 ?????????????? ???????????????????? ???? ?????????????? ???? ???????? For many, commuting to work by cycle is not a practical choice. But fortunately for me, the 1.9 km distance to office provides me with this choice. Initially, the idea didn't cross my mind during the interview, laden with a file and sporting heels. And who goes biking to interviews?? However, upon realizing the short distance compared to my weekend cycling trips, I willingly embraced the idea. It has been 7 months of me using this humble mode of transport and I can say, if you can do that, nothing like it. Here is why? 1. ???????????? ???????????????? Driving to my office would consume fuel worth Rs 650/- and taking a public transport everyday would make my wallet lighter by 2 grands. Not that I would think twice before using that amount( and more) to buy a pair of shoes but it certainly comes with some level of satisfaction. 2. ????'?? ?????????????????? ?????? ?????????????? If I do the Maths, I bike 80-90kms/month to reach office. Though I get more sun scorched than sun kissed in Kolkata's heat, but thanks to my "Dhanno", it gallops its way out of jams and gets me to office in les than 10 minutes everyday. So apart from keeping me guilt free on the weeks I miss my leg days, my time estimate stays pretty consistent. 3. ???? ?????? ?????? ???????????? ???????????? No usage of fossil fuel, no emission, no adding to green house gases. Plus some googling says a bike uses 5% of energy and materials needed to manufacture a car. So definitely lesser carbon footprint there. 4. ???????? ???? "???? ????????" Call it a mother syndrome, we just cherish few moments of "doing nothing". Those 10 minutes give me the zen feeling akin to hitting the gym except the air is a lot fresher. This meditative ride also helps me clear my head before and after work. In overcoming challenges like office attire and heels, I've realized that such short distances hardly require lycra, and ample space under my desk accommodates my formal shoes pretty fine.
