Here’s an interesting insight into what’s really happening. A person on Twitter, with the username " 後ろアヒージョ前ピラフ " or @ahieiei, used a 3D analysis tool to investigate this phenomenon. When a loading bar appears to freeze, it’s not just stuck. In reality, it’s executing a complex vertical subprocess. This means that while the bar may seem inactive, there is significant work happening behind the scenes. This revelation sheds light on why loading bars can sometimes pause without progressing. They’re not just frozen; they’re handling intensive tasks that aren’t immediately visible. It doesn't look like much (yet), but this is the start of a small real time chat application I'm building for a portfolio piece. Seeing progress rocks, even if it appears small. ?? What I'm showcasing here is the #optimistic rendering. Something that is awesome for the #UX, but pretty annoying to implement in real time application as a developer. While #react now has the badass useOptimistic() hook, I found that it's tricky to use with SSR and real time data so I went and designed my own method of accomplishing it. Again, this is nothing fancy UI wise currently, but the foundation for chat capabilities is now there. I'm building this with #TypeScript, #Next.js, #Supabase, #Zustand and #RadixUI.
