Everyone has their own perspective on the Hindi vs. English language debate, but personally, I found Ashneer Grover's thoughts to be very genuine. I’ve been in sales for the past 20 years, consistently in customer-facing roles. In day-to-day interactions with CXOs and senior management, initial discussions often start in English. However, as conversations progress, they usually shift to the local language or Hindi, especially since Hindi is our mother tongue and feels more natural. This transition happens everywhere—whether in Tier I or Tier II cities—and is particularly common in key regions across India. Speaking in Hindi adds a personal touch and fosters a sense of familiarity. Conversations in English tend to remain formal, and without a personal connection, it’s challenging to elevate a discussion to the next level. English serves as a language and a medium of communication, while Hindi expresses the depth of one’s words and thoughts. It conveys the true meaning behind each word, making communication more impactful and relatable.
