Public education is the foundation of Oregon’s workforce and economy—but we have work to do. Dr. Christine Toribio Pitts spoke at the Portland Economic Summit hosted by the Portland Metro Chamber. She shared a fresh take on Oregon's education system and the urgency for bold action. We are at a critical moment: ?? The Student Success Act was a landmark win in 2019, but there’s a disconnect between our investment and outcomes. ?? Oregon still needs to improve literacy, numeracy, and future-ready skills like critical thinking and technology proficiency. ?? Accountability vs. Transparency: We must move beyond tracking money spent to asking whether our investments deliver results. ?? But there’s hope. The Governor’s proposed budget lifts-up education, and opportunities are emerging. If we look to the future, we can design for equity, excellence, and innovation: ? Workforce pathways are gaining momentum, aligning education with the future economy (thank you to the Oregon Business Council (OBC) for putting a fine point on this at the leadership summit). ? Innovation can drive real change—personalized learning plans, forward-thinking school models, and AI literacy can put students first. ? New federal shifts may unlock funding and inspire creative solutions for postsecondary options. We can’t lose sight of the fight for justice and equity through quality public education. Too many Oregon students—particularly those from historically underserved communities—are being left behind. This is the moment to define a clear north star for 2030 and beyond, set big goals, and hold ourselves accountable for progress. The bottom line? The challenges are real, but so are the opportunities. Oregon can lead the way in building a thriving education system that prepares every student to shape their future—and ours. #Education #WorkforceDevelopment #EconomicSummit #Equity #Leadership

We have always been humbled and at the same time proud of the huge positive global impact created by our core team, advisors and distinguished advisors, as well as our other stakeholders. Many of our recent posts may have provided some indications to the policy impact of our team. In this regard, we would also like to recognize our colleagues' efforts on the academic impact front, which is equally important for creation of fundamental and applied knowledge required to inform policies and strategies in organizations worldwide. In particular, we take immense pleasure in sharing that our distinguished advisor Prof. Sridhar Seshadri, Ph.D. has over 9000 Google Scholar citations. Similarly, our other distinguished advisors and team members have also created huge academic impact. Prof Peter Dixon, who is also our Distinguished Advisor has over 9500 citations, while Prof Mark Horridge and our founder Badri Narayanan Gopalakrishnan, PhD have over 5500 citations. Prof Gopinath and Mr Dan Ciuriak - also our Distinguished Advisors, have over 2500 citations. These are fabulous examples, but all of our team members, advisors and other stakeholders have created a lot of impact collectively and individually. We take this opportunity to congratulate all of them and thank them for all their contributions to the academia, think tanks, and policy world, and to humanity as a whole! We look forward to many many more such accomplishments, and the sum of all these will be infinite in terms of impact creation. That's the Infinite Sum spirit.

Exciting Changes Ahead for B Lab! ???? Citizens and institutions expect more from business. As the world around us is evolving rapidly, so is the global B Corp movement. To address today's most pressing societal and environmental challenges, we're embarking on the biggest transformation in our 17-year history. At B Lab, we are advancing our standards to reflect the leadership role B Corps play worldwide. While this change can be inspiring, we understand it also comes with challenges. Some B Corps are already leading the way, while others need more time to prepare. We're committed to making this transition as smooth as possible by upskilling the B Corp community and all our stakeholders step-by-step. ?? With the recent consultation on our new standards concluding in March 2024, we've already reviewed over 16,000 pieces of the feedback, and we'll be sharing insights soon. Our goal is to support companies through this transition and equip them to tackle today’s challenges. Stay tuned as we continue this journey toward a more inclusive, equitable, and regenerative economy!
