There are many countries with winter season. We have included the most vulnerable countries in this year's “Surviving Winter” campaign. The situation of the poor and #refugees is worsening and life-threatening. By supporting this campaign, you can help the poor in these countries. We may not feel the #harmful effects of war, nor the cold of #winter . But if the cold is going to be life-threatening, why shouldn't we help?

Two Sundays from now on April 28th, Canada observes the National Day of Mourning. Reflecting on this, I have been privileged to play a part in promoting a safer & healthier workplace culture. It is a slow process that takes hard work; there's no quick fix or 'magic formula.' As a safety practitioner, my journey in the industry is grounded in guiding, coaching, educating, and influencing how workers behave as well as how key personnel perceive occupational safety. While there is some overlap between keeping workplaces safe and daily operations, it's important to see the differences. Safety management might seem straightforward at first glance, but it is emotionally demanding. Making sure safety and production go hand in hand is vital, and occupational health & safety is something everyone should think about every day. On April 28th, as we honor those lost in workplace accidents, this a call to All you Leaders on my network to recommit to making workplaces safer - Everyone deserves to go back home safely - By valuing and involving workers while making safety personal, we can create a culture where safety is not just a priority, but a deeply ingrained part of our daily lives.
National Day of Mourning is on April 28, dedicated to remembering those who have lost their lives, or suffered injury or illness on the job or due to a work-related tragedy. What are you doing to commemorate this day? #DayofMourning

When we connect with a diverse group of people, we have potential to increase our capacity for empathy, understanding and perspective taking. Here's a helpful thread from a hospital chaplain in Florida about refraining from judging people who don't evacuate in anticipation of hurricane Milton. Although very specific, it illustrates the importance of connection and taking time to see what others are experiencing. Quote: ?? "Before mocking anyone who does not evacuate during a hurricane, ideally we’d want to evacuate to safety, but please consider six factors: 1) Those with disabilities, those needing lifesaving technology, the elderly, and vulnerable populations cannot easily evacuate. 2)?Evacuation is prohibitively costly for many. And: where to? Shelters get full & are still within impacted zones, hotels are expensive, and not everyone has a network of friends/family or transportation. 3)?Healthcare workers, first responders, utility workers, sanitation, government employees, & disaster response cannot leave. They are the ones who sign up to stay. 4)?There is a LOT that goes into leaving, especially for families with young children & pets, or households with multiple generations. It is not only traumatic & stressful, but physically overwhelming. 5)?Traveling on the road with thousands of other evacuees can be intimidating & implausible for many. And I have had family members who evacuated only to end up in the path of the hurricane when it changed course. Evacuation is sometimes a gamble. 6)?It’s true that some people who *can* leave will stay out of a misguided sense of pride. Of course it’s safer to just evacuate. If you can go, you should. But some choose simply not to leave because leaving home, especially during a hurricane, is unthinkable. To abandon a home?even temporarily requires immense resources not everyone has, both material & psychological. It’s easy when you’re just watching. Immigrants families understand that leaving, even under the threat of violence, is still a nearly impossible decision for deeply personal reasons.? What is sad and unfair to me is that so many who really do want to leave can’t due to limitations they never asked for. I am lucky that I have the ability to evacuate if I need to, but I can understand why many will not." Thread: https://lnkd.in/guPesYDk
