Each year for Women's History Month, TIME honors extraordinary leaders who are working toward a more equal world. We are so excited to see Jacqueline Patterson, Founder and Executive Director of The Chisholm Legacy Project among this year's Women of the Year honorees. The mission of the Chisholm Legacy Project is rooted in the Just Transition Framework. The project serves as a vehicle to connect Black communities on the frontlines of climate justice with resources to traverse the path from vision to strategy to action plan to implementation to transformation. In support of frontline leadership, the project seeks to link movements and mainstream entities with the tools necessary to advance systems change centered in equity and justice. With Black women on the frontlines of advancing systems change, this project ensures that these leaders have the support they need as they transform society from extractivism to a living economy that cares for sacred relationships between people and with Mother Earth, through regenerative, cooperative, democratic systems. "Environmental issues, poverty, racial discrimination, and gender inequality all intersect to create intractable challenges. And often nonprofits bite off just one of those pieces. Jacqui Patterson’s organization is taking them all on where they intersect. Her approach is at once obvious and revolutionary." #ClimateJustice #ClimateSolutions #WomensHistoryMonth

This is a statue of leading Suffragette Annie Kenney. A remarkable woman from my home town. As I walked walked passed the statue, with my Eight year old daughter, Amal. I was given a personal lesson on the meaning of "true impact" The conversation went like this. Amal: Daddy, do you know who this is? Me: I think so, just don't remember the name. Amal: It's Annie Kenney, and she is like an amazing person. Me: Really, what makes her so amazing? Amal: She got women the right to vote, when everyone was against her. Me: Wow, but how does that make a difference? Amal: It means that if I want to, I can be Prime Minister. ?? The last statement was the most impressive part of that conversation. To think that the impact of work done by this working class women over a 100 years ago, allowed MY eight year daughter, to not just dream but confidently believe that she can be prime minister, is a great example of real impact. But this impact goes beyond just women, the fruits of Annie's struggles has given hope of prosperity to many sections of society, men and women alike. Therefore, on this international women's day, it is important to appreciate the holistic nature of equality and how ensuring the rights of one section of society makes a better society for everyone. #internationalwomensday2024 #internationalwomensday #iwd
