The American Geographical Society sincerely thanks special sponsor The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) for helping to make our annual Geography2050 symposium possible. The OGC is an international voluntary consensus standards organization that develops and maintains international standards for geospatial content and location-based services, sensor web, Internet of Things, GIS data processing and data sharing. The OGC is a leader in geospatial innovation and interoperability. Uniting the global geospatial community, it uses the latest technology to solve crucial issues such as climate change, urban planning, food security, and more. The American Geographical Society, in partnership with the Columbia Climate School, hosted geo-leaders from a wide range of geographic disciplines on November 21-22 in New York City to discuss #climatechange, international #cooperation, and conflict resolution. Presentations and lightning talks spanned #sustainability, #geoengineering, #geospatial intelligence, #ethics, #climate justice, and #climateresilience topics. The important work of the Open Geospatial Consortium unites the critical climate, environmental, and geographic research of Geography2050 participants in academia, the realm of public governance, and the private sector. We're looking forward to working with OGC for 2025's #GeoAI #Geography2050! Conversations and collaborations across our #geocommunity are essential as technology transforms and geospatial applications multiply in capacity and efficacy. We must focus on shaping a vision of #EthicalGeoAI in tandem with these rapidly evolving technologies. #geography #GIS #mapping #maps #geospatial
