?? Considering leaving public accounting for the allure of private industry? ?? Before you take that leap, let’s talk! ?? “I’m tired of the long hours in public accounting.” I hear you! But here’s the reality: Private industry isn’t always the work-life balance you think it is. ?? For nearly two years straight, I worked 60+ hour work weeks, many weeks of 80+ hours. Yep, more hours than I ever did in public and on a much more consistent basis. Understaffing and unrealistic deadlines set by non-accounting executives caused constant headaches. And don’t be fooled: not all month-end closes are one-week long. In my experience, most are 12-18 business days, leaving you with little time to breathe in between. ?? Don’t get me wrong, private has its perks, but it's not all sunshine and rainbows. So, before you trade your cubicle for a corner office, let’s chat!
