People sometimes misinterpret what our Earn Trust Leadership Principle means. Earning trust isn't about constantly agreeing with your coworkers. It's not about oversharing personal details to create a false sense of familiarity. And it definitely isn't about being a pushover who lets the team walk all over you. True trust is earned through reliability, authenticity, and self-awareness. It comes from following through on your commitments, challenging respectfully if you disagree, and being vocally self-critical, even when it’s awkward or embarrassing. As a leader (and by the way, you don’t have to be a people manager to be a leader), earning trust means: 1) Doing things you say you’re going to do, when you’re going to do them. And if something changes, proactively communicating with stakeholders. 2) Listening intently and speaking candidly and respectfully if you disagree. 3) Owning your mistakes and being transparent. Covering things up or throwing people under the bus rapidly destroys trust. If you’re doing Earn Trust right, you won’t always be the most popular person in the room. But trusted leadership is infinitely more valuable than just being well liked. Learn about other nuances with our LPs from our CEO, Andy Jassy: https://amzn.to/3XlSmTj
Thanks for sharing. As an Ex Amazon employee, I can say earn trust actually means " making sure people know exactly where they are with things, and admitting when something is going wrong so it’s possible to put steps in place to make sure it doesn’t happen again. It’s essentially about being honorable". I still live the Amazon principles as every principle is connected to our day to day life than just work.
Nah late to a sev call is CRAZY
Forcing staff into the office 5 days a week is embarrassing and doesn’t deserve trust.
I can not find how can I make feedback to Amazon, I have payment issue, the payment has been deducted due to order from my bank account, but it doesnt show on Amazon which items has been shipped, and I've cancelled the item, Amazon email me back anyway you did not charge for that. How on earth ? I've contacted to my bank they said we can not do anything it is up to Amazon, what can I do now ? My money charged i can not purchased. Due to Amazon payment issue, I dont even know the money will be refunded or not ? #amazoncustomerservices

I wonder what changes she is going to implement...
It’s also not asking me to do dirty work for free. :)?
I think point 3 should separate out the bit about being transparent, and clarifying that disagreeing with their own leadership is not necessarily the same as throwing someone under a bus. I've worked with way too many high-level senior leaders that thought their role was to play politician and "sell" leadership/corporate decisions, convince their team that their concerns were not actually problems. Nothing destroys trust faster than having your entire team tell you something is a problem and refusing to acknowledge the reality. Sometimes as a leader the answer has to be "Yes, that is a problem, I don't like it either. There's nothing I can do about it, we have to live with this decision, so lets figure out the best way forward." The few leaders I've worked with who gave me answers like that I have trusted for years and would follow for the rest of my career.
