Summer 2022 I started working at a staffing agency—a startup stuck in its awkward adolescence stage. The potential was there, but it was slowed down by growing pains. The team was relatively old-school, while I was fresh out of the world’s biggest tech company (that shall remain unnamed). To my surprise, they were managing shifts and tracking hours with spreadsheets. There were two full-time employees manually sending invoices and doing payroll. Damn, you guys live like this? So, obviously, I’m thinking, “How do we automate all of this so we can scale way faster?” I learned quickly that the staffing industry had a problem: it wasn’t just this agency. There was an entire market of unoptimized staffing businesses. Agencies that wanted to grow, but were limited by manual processes, slow matchmaking, and limited overview of their workforce. So I built Pagato. And on its own, the marketplace is getting so much traction. But now, we are allowing staffing agencies on our secret. Pagato in the back-end, the agency’s brand in the front-end.
