?? The futuristic car "Gen.Urban" begins test drives through Wolfsburg. On an eight-kilometre route in the city, experts from Volkswagen Group Innovation are investigating the passenger experience in automated driving. ?? "With Gen.Urban, we want to test the customer experience in a vehicle interior without a steering wheel and pedals in real traffic for the first time", said Nikolai Ardey, our Head of Group Innovation. ?? This car is a great example of "Mobility-as-a-Service": Volkswagen could use shuttle vehicles like the Gen.Urban on demand via an app to transport passengers from A to B in busy city centres. You’ve heard of self-driving cars - now get ready for entirely driverless tech. ?? Sydney is once again leading the way, with a trial in Chippendale headed up by the University of Sydney and Transport for NSW. The aim is to set up self-driving vehicles to talk to traffic lights, leading to safer roads, fewer accidents, and more innovative transport. Imagine an entire journey where you don’t have to lift a finger. What would you use that time for? Results could hit the market as soon as next year. Was great to be part of this journey as how many people get to say: "I got to work on an autonomous driving project...". So grateful for the opportunity! (Shared a post earlier as well about another media post). What did I do on this? A: Can't share much, in less than 3 months: 1. Digested old works and understood how all the interior systems were working (I had an advantage I worked on it before) 2. Harmonised various test setups at various external partners. 2. Improved the architecture for the Interior Interactive systems and the HMI, built on top of what was already built by other parters who were also working on it. 3. Created Sate of the art documentation for setup and maintenance for past and new service implementations 4. From ground up built, tested and taught maintenance and fine tuned a new client backend that talk with VW Group's ongoing project to bring AI into the Interior system - spanning across HMI and other interior elements. 5.
