I said yes to the dress! Finally after weeks of visiting different bridal boutiques Trying on SO SO many different dresses I found my favourite ?? Everyone told me I would know when I found the one But after each dress I tried, I just felt more STRESSED and CONFUSED ?? And to be honest quite DOWN on myself ?? ?I’m a size 14 - pretty average I’d have thought But all the dresses I had to try were size 8/10 And SOOO expensive (like ￡2k for one days wear!) ?In some shops I felt so oversold to Really pushed to part with my money and make a quick decision ?I wasn’t really listened to I was vocal about what style suits me and what I didn’t want but this was pretty much ignored ?Pushed to have a glass of bubbly - “go on have a glass” (I’m off the booze and two of my friends are recovered alcoholics!) ?? In the end I found a lovely small boutique I instantly clicked with the owner of the shop who really listened to me No being fake with me or pressurising me AND it was a fraction of the price of the others ?????? I don’t think I like being sold to at all ?? I need to connect with the seller Not pushed or pressured and I need to be listened to! How do you feel when you’re being sold to? As Mahatma Gandhi stated, 'the customer is the most important person on our premises. He is not dependent on us. We are dependent on him. It is humorous to me how much we disregard or maybe just not understand the consumer in the diamond and jewelry industry. We introduced a choice to the consumer and they embraced it beyond the expectations of the industry. Instead of focusing on how to create further value through evolving the product and conversation with the consumer, the trade is now cribbing again as the easy sale is over. They are even thinking that consumer will shift again ??!! Innovate or Perish! Among the many insights picked out of Signet Jewelers annual report, its comment about lab-grown diamonds, hidden in its risk disclosures, stood out. “Lab-created diamonds are a meaningful portion of sales and inventory for Signet and the jewelry industry, and declining costs and retail prices could impact operating results and disappoint consumers. As retail prices of lab-created diamonds decline, consumers who purchased lab-created diamonds at higher prices may become disappointed in the relative value of their purchase which could negatively impact the reputation of Signet and the jewelry industry.” That, along with other commentary the company gave, marks a change in its attitude toward synthetics. Signet cannot afford for lab grown to take greater market share of the bridal market where the company's dominance is?absolute. It is now emphasizing lab-grown for fashion jewelry and stressing the unique value that natural diamonds offer for engagement rings / bridal. The strategy mirrors the general trend across the industry. After synthetics enjoyed a boom in bridal, jewelers are realizing they cannot sustain their businesses with a continuation of that trend.
