Just 2wks to my BIGGEST ever challenge for my daughter Ivy and The Lily Foundation…. The 2 mile swim Serpentine challenage!!! Insignificant to the challenges children face with Mitochondrial Disease, an incurable life-limiting condition! Ivy wasn’t expected to make her first birthday… she is heading for her 18th at the end of the year! So it seemed fitting to push myself way-out of my comfort zone for this challenge. Please make a donate we would be very grateful and please share our story with links below. We need to raise awareness of this cruel condition and the amazing work of The Lily Foundation. https://lnkd.in/eg8K69Dj Did you know it’s World Mitochondrial Disease Week from 16th-22nd September. https://lnkd.in/e8tUvPvM Light Up for Mito Every year, monuments and landmarks around the world are lit up green to raise awareness about mitochondrial disease. This year, ‘Light Up for Mito’ will be on Saturday 21st September. If you spot a ‘green’ landmark near you please let us and your friends all know! Huge thank you for your support!

The premature passing of rugby legend Rob Burrow as a consequence of motor neuron disease, one of far too many rare and not-so-rare incurable illnesses, is a reminder of how much remains to be done therapeutically to provide all people the chance at a reasonable quality and duration of life.??Millions of people still suffer from incurable illnesses, many of which strike young.??Though most are not so well-known, each of these individuals’ lives, joy, and aspirations are needlessly cut short, and the misfortune sends irreversible shock waves through every one of their families and social networks.??The urgency to address this need and the opportunity to have a transformative impact motivate me every day in the work that I do.??Through effective use of data, I know we can collectively break through barriers in novel ways to reveal the secrets of these afflictions and develop effective therapies to renew the opportunity of life for the millions of people who are waiting. Not only can we, we must. More information about motor neuron disease and donations being accepted at: https://lnkd.in/dKhPuz2p? https://lnkd.in/d3vkrnwK

In times of deep emptiness, hostility, and neglect, many of us simply long for the chance to pursue our dreams and be a source of brightness in our own lives, even if just for ourselves. At Detector Media , I engaged in meaningful discussions about the work of DonorUA during the tumultuous period of two years of intense warfare and ten years since Crimea's annexation. When I look back on how we and our organization have evolved since the conflict started and escalated into full-scale war, I see significant changes. With the unwavering support of our values and dedicated team, we rallied together over 500 volunteers. We transformed into a crucial pillar of support for the blood donation system and public well-being, making it easier for people to donate blood through online platforms. Like our fellow Ukrainians, we emerged from challenges with a newfound strength and resilience. We have refined our focus and strategies to maximize our impact on society. Thanks to the combined efforts of our team, improved operations, and the kindness of compassionate individuals, there are regions where requests for blood donors have not been required for six months, showing that our streamlined processes adequately meet the needs of civilians. Nevertheless, our mission is ongoing - we are committed to providing timely and high-quality blood and its components to both the military and civilians. Through our work, I have come to understand three core principles that have become clear to me during these trying times: - Kindness must be accompanied by unwavering determination, strength, and a resilient spirit. - While the path to justice may be long and challenging, it is inevitable. - In moments of conflict, each person has a role to play, and our unity is of paramount importance. When considering the task of reintegrating and rebuilding territories under temporary occupation, such as Crimea, I firmly believe that we share a deep bond with those living there. Our fellow Ukrainians are present in those regions, and it is our mission to bring them back home. Our goal is not only to restore their future but also to reconnect them with their past. In looking ahead, I believe the top priority for Ukrainians in the upcoming year is to come together and contribute as much as they can towards achieving victory and a brighter future for all.

At the recently concluded 2024 World Sickle Cell Day community outreach and health fair, Mrs. Moji Michael, a mother of two children with Sickle Cell Disease, shared her experience raising warriors. Mrs. Michael stressed that knowing your genotype is important for breaking the cycle of pain. In her own words, she said, "'Let's break the cycle of pain; it should stop with this generation. Know your genotype!'" Our goal is to raise 30,000,000 NGN to provide essential nutrients for 2,000 children with Sickle Cell Disease (SCD). Something to think about
A decade after Breaux Burns deployed to the Philippines during Typhoon Haiyan’s landfall in 2013, he reflected on his experience. Burns, a Marine Corps veteran who now serves as a fire captain, has volunteered for six other international operations with TR since. "Our team worked tirelessly, with no breaks in between. But it didn’t matter. For each of us, it was never about our own hardships; it was always about the people of the Philippines, many of whom I’ll never forget." Join us in doubling down on our international efforts! Until the end of April, your donation will be matched by a generous donor, helping us expand our commitment to meeting the needs of communities worldwide. Donate Now! https://trusa.co/IntlMatch
