We're pleased to announce a $1 million endowment, made possible through a gift from Kent Hawryluk, President, CEO and co-founder of MBX Biosciences and alumnus of the School of Science, to establish the Simon J. Rhodes Legacy Scholarship. This scholarship, named after former School of Science Dean and professor Simon J. Rhodes, will be offered to applicable freshmen and sophomores who are pursuing their first undergraduate degree in the School of Science at IU Indianapolis, have demonstrated financial need and are in good academic standing as determined by the scholarship committee. Aligning with Indiana University Indianapolis' seamless admissions program, which automatically admits Indianapolis Public Schools students who achieve a 3.0 GPA or higher, preference for this scholarship will be given to students who attended high school in the Indianapolis Public Schools district or in Marion County, Indiana. CIC is excited to announce the second multimillion-dollar grant in two years from Lilly Endowment Inc.?to increase grants awarded to colleges and universities offering programs related to calling and vocation. The grant builds upon the success of CIC’s development of NetVUE (Network for Vocation in Undergraduate Education), our nationwide network of over 300 colleges and universities formed to enrich the theological and intellectual exploration of vocation among undergraduate students. ?? What would you say to someone thinking of doing the JSO exam? ?? "There is no reason not to do the JSO exam! It's a fun paper to practice scientific problem solving and you never know where it may lead you." Great advice from Zhenghao! He represented Australia at the International Junior Science Olympiad last year in Thailand. The journey begins with the JSO Exam, a fantastic way to challenge science students in a range of science topics, such as biology, chemistry, Earth and environmental science, and physics. It can help extend science knowledge and develop exam experience. Facts you need to know: ? Exams are two-hours long and are completed wholly online at your school. ? Australian high school students in Years 7 to 10 are eligible to sit the Exam. ? This year we will introduce two JSO exam levels to help make the exam more accessible for younger students and the results will more accurately reflect students' ability against the relevant cohort. The JSO Exam dates: ?? Years 9 and 10 students is Wednesday 12 June 2024. ?? Years 7 and 8 students is Friday 14 June 2024. Registrations are open! Strong academic results are the hallmark of?SABIS??schools and have long been so. External exam results qualify?SABIS??students for admission to some of the world’s best colleges and universities and are part of the solid foundation students use to build future learning. In the spring of 2024, students across the network took a variety of external exams including, among others, the British International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and Advanced/Advanced Supplementary Level (A/AS Level) as well as Advanced Placement??(AP?) exams overseen by The College Board in the U.S. With scores tallied across the network, 2024 proved to be another year of outstanding performance. For example, 88% of students in?SABIS??Network schools earned A*-C on IGCSEs in comparison to 79% worldwide. On A Levels, 76% of?SABIS??students earned A*-C, compared to 70% globally. The 93% of?SABIS??students who earned the highest scores of 3, 4, or 5 on AP??exams correlates to 67% who earned the same results on a global scale. With a balance of academics, self-development, and life preparation,?SABIS??students gain an EDGE that prepares them for success in college and beyond.
