Why I vote.
Countdown to the election #6 Hispanic Patriots
Hispanics have a long history in the U.S. military, dating back to the nation’s founding. During the American Revolutionary War, Spanish soldiers and militia, particularly under General Bernardo de Gálvez, played crucial roles in the Gulf Coast and Mississippi Valley, helping secure American independence. Throughout the 19th and early 20th centuries, Hispanics served in conflicts such as the Mexican-American War, Civil War, and Spanish-American War, often in segregated units.
In World Wars I and II, thousands of Hispanic Americans volunteered, with many serving heroically in the European and Pacific theaters. The 65th Infantry Regiment, a mostly Puerto Rican unit known as the “Borinqueneers,” earned distinction in the Korean War. Later, in Vietnam, Hispanic service members were highly represented, often in frontline combat roles. Since then, Hispanic Americans have continued to serve in large numbers, with many rising to prominent ranks and receiving the Medal of Honor. Today, we are one of the fastest-growing demographics in the U.S. military, reflecting both a strong legacy and enduring commitment.
Thank you to our Veterans.
