If you are interested in regenerative agriculture, I invite you to join me at the Regen AgriFood Coalition in the Heartland (ReACH) Innovation Summit on February 6th & 7th at the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center in St. Louis. I will be moderating a conversation with Paimun (PJ) Amini, Senior Director of Venture Investments at Leaps by Bayer about “Using an Innovation Playbook to Scale AgTech Solutions”. We will be discussing an initiative that PJ is spearheading, working closely with industry leading?entrepreneurs, scientists and investors to create transparency and nomenclature on what it takes to bring new products to market in the agriculture sector, including timing, cost, regulatory process, as well as key obstacles to overcome. The Innovation Summit is being organized by ReACH, which is a coalition launched by BioSTL and Bayer and includes member organizations representing the region’s global agrifood corporations, with the goal of collaborating on building a regenerative agrifood system that will meet its members’ net-zero carbon and sustainability commitments. It was great to be back in St. Louis to attend the inaugural Regen AgriFood Coalition in the Heartland (ReACH) Innovation Summit.?Through the leadership of Bayer, BioSTL and the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center, the Summit was a huge success and showcased the best of St. Louis and the broader Midwest region by bringing together AgTech executives, corporate leaders, and farmers for frank discussions about technology innovation and product adoptions. I particularly appreciated the opportunity to moderate a conversation with Paimun (PJ) Amini, Senior Director of Venture Investments at Leaps by Bayer about “Using an Innovation Playbook to Scale AgTech Solutions”. PJ is spearheading this initiative, which involves working closely with industry-leading entrepreneurs, scientists and investors to create transparency and nomenclature on what it takes to bring new products to market in the agriculture sector, including timing, costs, and regulatory process, as well as key obstacles to be overcome. Excited to share RFSI’s first Quarterly Round-up for Regenerative Food Systems Investing! We’ve been tracking deals, fund activity and other news happening across the regen ag and food space for years but this is our first time sharing a summary of what we’re seeing. So what are the highlights from Q1 2024? ?? More than $722 million was committed to regenerative agriculture and food ?? Biologicals was the top investment theme by number of deals ?????? Farmland transition was the top theme in terms of total capital invested ?? We tracked 5 new investment funding vehicles launched and 3 fund closes ?? Plus, some incredible reports released to help advance engagement in the space. Has us thinking: ?? Could regenerative be a bright spot for a still slow agtech venture space? ? We've been reflecting on the many positive conversations we had last week at the inaugural ReACH Innovation Summit, organised by BioSTL in St. Louis, USA. The Summit connected regenerative agrifood innovators from around the globe including food businesses, farmers, investors, government organisations and NGOs.
