Upfront cost of clean energy technologies remains a hurdle to implement these technologies effectively, however, in the long term plan these must be the most affordable energy options. I propose to your attention a very interesting report of iea. Basically the outcomes are that renewables are more convenient than fossil fuels also in terms of costs. The transition process is however hindered by initial upfront costs for renewables and heavy subsides to fossil fuels that are still in place and are giving to these energy sources an unfair competitive advantage. The report also gives a warning regarding the enormous costs, in terms of damages to the environment, climate and humans, of a prolonged use of fossil fuels.
