What is the hiring manager looking for? 2 things.... Here they are..in order....?? 1. What will this candidate be like out in the field, with our customers? 2. What type of teammate and employee with this person be? They may be asking you 20-30 questions.... when it's all said and done... those are the 2 questions that matter most. Those candidates don't make it to the end of our program, full stop. Transparent ? You don't have to trust us that they are well trained, you can literally watch videos of them doing the skills you're going to pay them to do BEFORE you interview them on your own time, from the comfort of your laptop. I know founders get wrapped around the axel when it comes to their babies and think, no matter what, their offering is the best in the world. And I'm no different. BUT - I've LIVED the problems we solve. I've struggled to find a new purpose after losing my identity. I've mis-hired hundreds of sales people. “What is an O-P-S manager? And do I need one?” someone asked me last week. The woman asking me is a self-employed esthetician. She has had her own business for 3 years now and doesn’t have any employees, nor does she plan on it soon. I briefly explained my role, as this was over text, and I shared my own perspective. If I were her and was running out of time, getting behind on purchasing, admin, and strategic planning time, while still treating clients herself; I would opt for a Personal or Executive Assistant to help buy back her time on backend tasks but still deliver the highest client care and level of service. If I were her and had 2 or more estheticians, needing to step away from day-to-day operations, no longer treating clients, and needed someone to support with recruiting, hiring, and managing the business, I’d hire an Operations Manager. What other criteria would you have to hiring an Operations Manager?
