?? NEW EPISODE ?? No need to run, duck and take cover with this week’s podcast guest ?? He’s diffused all the bombs! He’s a retired bomb disposal officer and he’s chatting with me about delegation. In fact, he gets a pretty good rant going a number of times. Highly entertaining and many different perspectives on leadership and delegation in particular. Something he said really captured my attention…we need just enough trust. He mentioned that in the military, you got who you got and had to make the best of the situation. “Finding someone else” wasn’t an option. (except in the most extreme situations) Definitely worth a listen to Gabriel Von Knorring and his take on delegation and leadership. Humility, is by far the best form of leadership. BUT not everyone masters this talent, many go the exact opposite, especially newer managers at a senior level. Often times we see some managers that are new in their role, can not master this one until awhile into the role. It is always a slippery slope when a new manager comes in, you never know what you may get. So don't always wish for a new manager, at times we just need to coach our existing mgr to greatness. We should always be able to converse ith our team, our peers and our leaders in an open and respectful fashion, always and All ways!! Coaching should always be reciprocated and we should be able to coach both ways. Keep the lines open always.

PODCAST ???: Humility stems from confidence. Confident leaders can admit when they're not the smartest person in the room. Blake Hall exemplifies this type of leadership we need more of in business. A former Army Ranger, Blake was awarded the Bronze Star for leading his platoon in combat during the Iraq War. Now he's the CEO and co-founder of ID.me, a digital wallet that simplifies online identity verification. I sat down with Blake to discuss how his combat experience informed his journey as an entrepreneur and why the smartest leaders lead with humility. ?? The best leaders have the winning combination of #QuietConfidence with a hefty dose of #Humility. Resisting the #BubbleOfYes so frequently surrounding them. A real leader wants to hear #TheGoodBadandUgly. They rely on #SubjectMatterExperts and #Data vs. #EgoandEmotion. They extract #AuthenticFeedback to continually improve and they #ListenMoreThanSpeak. ????

‘Humility is the by product of confidence’. This is worth a conversation in the office hallways. Often leaders mistake confidence with being overtly visible, pushy or saying whatever comes in their heads. However it’s a fine line being a confident leader vs being a jerk. Tow the line by doing a humility check: 1) am I listening more than talking? 2) is my empathy on Or off? 3) is my honesty devoid of kindness? 4) am I asking inquisitive questions or patronising questions? #leadership #coaching #confidence #learningdevelopment ————————————————————— DM or check out the website ????for coaching support. www.quietthrivers.com

Great leadership = Humility…how many times large companies have fallen due to ego from CEOs and Management! It takes real skill to build a great team.Ego results in high turnover and bad culture in a firm. #simonsinek #leadership #highturnover #recruitinggreatteams #keepyourbestperformancersinterested #advice2talent

Great insight into humility in leadership from Simon Sinek and Blake Hall. Great leaders are willing and open to listen to their team's ideas, and support them to be successful, without needing to 'prove' themselves. It can be a challenge to embrace this - so often leaders think they need to know all the answers, and provide solutions. Instead, great listening, curious questions and an open mindset can help elicit innovative new ideas and ways forward from teams, helping everyone be more successful. How confident are you in yourself and your leadership to create this space for your teams? #HighPerformingTeams #TeamCoaching #CoachingMindset #Humility #Leadership #Humanity_to_wk

HOW CAN HUMILITY AND CONFIDENCE BE RELATED?! So very misunderstood. The most helpful thing we can learn about humility is that you need to be confident to quietly sit and have humility. Why else would you not need to pipe up with something to prove? So often the loudest people are the VERY most insecure. And why wouldn't they be? They NEED to prove something. They have a chip on their shoulder. They MUST have the last word. They can't sit in quietude. They have trouble finding inner peace. In no way would I ever judge these folk. But when I train anyone who has trouble being quietly confident, I try to find out what it is they're less secure about. We all have our issues and fears. So? No big deal. For me, I was insecure about not knowing myself as well as I wanted to. A common problem. But the symptoms were confusing to me. I played music too much as an escape. I read too much as an escape. I avoided serious discussions too much as an escape. I laughed and goofed around too much as an escape. What was I escaping from? Myself. I was uncomfortable in my skin. So, I socialised way too much and did anything and everything but spend time alone. And I believe this is a common problem many of us have in the 21st century. Why? We are so overstimulated and disassociated from our true selves that we forget what our best selves truly look like. For me, the solution was self-expression. Once I sat down with myself and returned to my 'why' as Mr Sinek might say - I remembered how I could best lead MYSELF. Then and only then could I reconnect with my mission as a leader of a business and a team. But it was a long road. Why? I took many detours and had a LOT of corporate training objectives. Many courses and curricula. So many and so varied were they all that I lost sight of what I wanted to prioritise. This can be a common occurrence with polymaths and those with many and varied interests I feel. And the more diverse your array of interests, the fewer role models there are in life. Especially if you're passionate about every project you take on. Luckily, when you remember your heroes like Mr Sinek, you find your way back to your Why pretty quickly. Thanks for this wonderful insight! Incisive as always.

Humility is associated with good listening, but according to this also with self-confidence. Our concept of a learning community/social enterprise means keeping humility, and radical hospitality sharp and present.
