There’s nothing like women celebrating each other. Last week I had the honor of recognizing some of the most incredible business women in the Twin Cities! As one of the 50 honorees, I sat in awe as the emcee read the receipts for each person. The brief sentences listing accomplishments, awards, scale, and impact didn’t even scratch the surface of what it took to get to that room. RISKS. Carefully calculated risks. ??There are the scary ones like financial risks to launch a business in an industry with very few of us. ??Quiet personal ones like debating how I’m going to show up at the risk of being “too much” or “not enough.” ?Nagging ones like time risks. If I spend it on my career, will I run out of it with my family? What do I risk giving up if my time is “spent.” ????♀?And the biggest risk of all. Ourselves. Do we believe in ourselves enough to take the leap? In reality, women business owners and leaders are the best budgeters. We are meticulously simultaneously mitigating and accumulating risk every second of everyday. The net profit of all that mathing is impact, profitability, and true leadership. Bet on women who bet on themselves. #entrepreneurship #betonwomen #women #business
Congratulations to The Coven's Co-Founder, Alex West Steinman on her recognition among the 2024 Women in Business Honorees! She shared this honor and space with brilliant business builders across the Twin Cities that are doing the most good. Cheers to all the honorees, including LeeAnn Rasachak, Jillian Hiscock, Bobbi Jo Lamar Brunson, Elizabeth Hickey Orme, Tiffani Daniels, April Anslinger, Dorothy Bridges, Meredith Leigh M., Jessica Poole, Chanti Miller, Kate Tropman McRoberts, Jean Freeman, and Hillery Smith Shay, MBA. Alex said, "The commonality in this room is the risks that we've all taken. The financial, big and small. The emotional and mental risks that you take every single day. But the greatest risk of all is taking that first step. What helps mitigate that risk is the support from the women here today. The collective economic power in this room is incredible. So if you have the means, shop and invest in women-owned companies. Bet on the women who bet on themselves". We would bet on all of you, any day! Thank you to the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal (MSPBJ) for giving these business leaders well-deserved recognition!
It is truly inspiring to see women ?? supporting ?? and celebrating each other in the business world. The risks that women entrepreneurs take, whether financial, personal, or time-related, are not to be underestimated. It takes courage ?? and belief in oneself to navigate these risks and come out on top. #womensupportingwomen
Alex West Steinman, your reflection on the Twin Cities event is spot on. The journey of women in business is indeed a tapestry of risks, but as you beautifully articulated, it's those very risks that weave us into the resilient and impactful leaders we are. Celebrating each other's triumphs is a testament to our collective strength. Let's continue to bet on ourselves and each other.
I spotted Becky Roloff’s smile a mile away along with her beautiful jewelry. ??I would’ve tagged her on my post, but couldn’t find her LinkedIn profile. She dodged the LI social media bulletin! ??
Such a great point Alex West Steinman -- women ARE exceptional at managing risk, and often don't see themselves as strong in this space. Kudos on the recognition and thanks for being such an inspiration!
Love this post Alex! Thanks for sharing your wisdom.
Sincere CONGRATS Alex! YOU GO!
