That’s a wrap in Amsterdam for IBC. We’re all packing up our toys and heading home. The last several days of the show were particularly good for Advanced Image Robotics expanding to new customers in Europe and beyond through our new EU distributor Video Progetti Srl. Also had some fantastic discussions with new partners both hardware and software. Everyone was particularly blown away when we were able to demonstrate ultra low latency control of an AIR One robot positioned over 10,000km away back in San Diego …. via the venue public WiFi! TBH I wasn’t expecting to be able to demo that (and it’s unlikely I’d do public wifi for a real broadcast) but it shows what the system is capable of. Kudos to the folks at IBC - International Broadcasting Convention who were super helpful in reconfiguring a few things in the network to help make it happen. A tease of a few features AIR will be working on over the coming months … - New cameras - New high frame rate streaming for live slow mo - New automation and tracking capabilities - New integrated motion options At the end of the day it’s all about empowering AIR platform users to produce high quality content with a lighter footprint, faster setup, and fewer on-prem resources for radically less cost.

The arena is one of the largest in Sweden and can cater for 65,000 people (and it did during the concerts :)) Tele2 measured data traffic in their newly constructed arena mobile network. Average Tele2 swiftie used 190 MB (DL and 80 MB (UL) during the 3 hour 20 min long concert. If we translate this to data speed...this become 0,13 Mbps vs 0,05 Mbps on average per person during the whole time. This doesn't sound that much perhaps...but considering that you have 65,000 people in a fairly small space...this become very high capacity that need to be delivered per sqm...by our estimation between 0,6-1,2 Mbps/sqm....which is actually not that easy to build for. You might not need to support a Taylor Swift concert in your building but if Swifties are an early indicator on next generation of this customer engagement... The city of Antwerp created a soundlogo together with a sonic identity. It is a sign that the force of audio and radio are becoming (finaly) strongholds for an identity. One that sometime lacks consistency and recognition when a clear sonic identity is missing. Although you can use other hearable elements to get there, creating a sound logo is a sure win. That City Marketing is joining the believers of the ROI of investing in a ′sound trigger’ for (sub)conscious recognition is applauded. After several days of discussions and meetings with some of the largest broadcasters in the US, thank you to everyone who warmly welcomed me, and here are some insights to share: ?? The US market remains at the forefront, with some broadcast centers in NYC and the Phoenix Area showcasing cutting-edge technology—a truly impressive sight. However, it's important to note that there are challengers in Europe, particularly in #france. Quite a few nice media projects on both sides of the Atlantic for the live coverage of the Paris #olympics2024, curious to see the result this summer! ?? Technologies like Ultra HD, 2110, HDR, and IP contribution are now widely deployed. Gone are the days of mere announcements; as manufacturers, we must now focus on efficiency and practical optimization of these technologies. This entails minimizing processing, consumption, and overall Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), rather than merely engaging in greenwashing. ?? Regarding the cloud, while it offers convenience, it must not become a cost center. Its primary function should be to provide flexibility. ?? Although #srt may not have emerged as the sole victor, it has come remarkably close. Despite the strengths of other protocols, market pragmatism prevails: SRT gets the job done and streamlines operators' tasks. ?? With the proliferation of platforms, content, and formats (such as HDR, Atmos, Vision, HLG, NGA), monitoring has become increasingly crucial. ?? We are now witnessing a phase of consolidation, both among manufacturers and in terms of technology. Our focus should be on making innovative solutions simple and effective, thereby facilitating the advancement of media broadcasting. ? Let's never lose sight of the fact that the show must go on - but preferably with higher quality ?? Amazing display and speaker technologies are now massively deployed on the end-user side, our mission is to provide them with the best experience??
