Reflecting on our fuckups of 2024: #2 When our first project didn’t go as planned—and why that's okay. Here’s another hard lesson from this year: planning unrealistic timelines for our German pilot project. We had everything mapped out - tight schedules, clear deliverables, and a launch plan we were confident in. But the project hit delays we didn’t foresee, from unexpected complexities to slower-than-expected stakeholder alignment. What felt like a minor setback soon turned into months of delays. And then, a surprise twist: while the German pilot is still on hold, our first scale project will actually kick off in Namibia! It’s a shift we didn’t anticipate but one that underscores the importance of flexibility and global thinking in a startup journey. ? Lesson learned: Even when plans don’t go as expected, new opportunities can emerge in unexpected places. What’s the most surprising pivot you’ve made this year?

Q2 is (already) over! Our team has the habit of discussing weekly highlights, lowlights, and learnings, which inspired me to do the same here for this quarter. ?? Highlight: A great moment of this quarter was our team retreat in Paris. These few days have not only been key to align strategically on the coming months, but also a good opportunity to spend some good time together. In bonus, it was great to discover the inspiring startup ecosystem around STATION F. ?? ?Lowlight: On the flip side, there were some stressful times, especially when things had to be rushed in emergency situations. It's a good reminder of how important it is to take our time, even when it feels like we can’t. ?? ?Learning: This quarter reinforced that building meaningful things takes time. Working on long-term projects demands discipline. There are weeks when progress seems slow and?urgent?tasks take over, but staying consistent is key.?Excited about some amazing projects coming up – stay tuned ! What about you? ?? Flying back to the Netherlands today after spending two weeks with my co-founder and the Armenian part of our team was an incredible experience! ?? Every day, I’m reminded of how valuable it is to have a partner you trust deeply—someone who truly has your back. ?? Starting a business with a friend of 16 years brings unique challenges. Our relationship has transformed on this journey, but leading this company with a smart, grounded, and self-assured co-founder has been a privilege. ?? In startups, every decision carries weight ??, and the path is often tough. But when each decision is guided purely by what’s best for the company, it strengthens not only the business but also the team. ?? We’re prepared for the high-stress moments and the big milestones ??, and knowing we face them together makes the journey meaningful. Here’s to the resilience, trust, and shared vision that drive us forward—qualities every startup needs. ?? Can’t wait for the release of the new version of Sestive in December! ?? When your tech partner truly understands how critical it is to get customer feedback as soon as possible, it makes all the difference. Their ability to consistently meet challenging deadlines and deliver high-quality features is invaluable. ???? An external fresh eye can change everything. Here's how our advisory board shaped our plans for growth ?? Last week, my co-founders and I travelled to Helsinki for our midterm meeting as part of EEX Oy Journey. What made this trip so impactful? We had our advisory board by our side, diving deep with us on topics like: ?? Growth Strategies for 2025 ?? Product Roadmap ?? Hiring and team development It’s one thing to plan internally. But sitting down with seasoned experts who bring an external perspective? That’s where magic happens. ?? Their insights and experience challenged our assumptions, sharpened our focus, and gave us actionable steps for what lies ahead. Another highlight was connecting with other inspiring startups BIOWEG , S1SEVEN | Digital Material Passport and Tether (Techstars '23). Learning from their journeys and exchanging ideas was equally invaluable. I’m incredibly grateful for this experience and want to thank everyone involved—our advisory board, Eex Journey, and my amazing team. ?? What’s next? Big things are coming. I can’t wait to share more about our plans for 2025 soon. What’s one piece of advice you’ve received from an external perspective that made all of the difference?
