Congrats, Wei Ying! They are lucky to have you. Dear ASLC Board of Directors, do everything you can and more to set Dr. Wong up for success. The conservation movement loses way too many amazing women leaders of color because of the institution’s lack of readiness and support for a new type of leader. If ALSC continues to have problems (as all organizations do) under Dr. Wong’s leadership it is 99% of the time an institutional or cultural problem not a people problem. Focus on changing the institution or culture not the person (i.e., leader of color).
