Standup Comedian Sues Soho Theatre For Antisemitism Libel: A Lawsuit Funnier Than the Show? A Legal Roast With Extra Sarcasm LONDON – In what might be the first stand-up routine to take place in a courtroom, a comedian has sued the Soho Theatre for antisemitism libel. Now, legal experts are split on whether this is an actual case or just an incredibly elaborate setup for a punchline. #antisemitismallegations #cancelculturehumor #comedianlibelcase #comediansuestheatre #comedycensorship #comedylawsuit #defamationincomedy #freespeechcontroversy #funnylegalnews #humortrial #legalhumor #SohoTheatrelawsuit #standupcomedylegalbattle #standupcontroversy #UKcomedyscene

10 ways Comedy is overlooked in Western Australia: 1.) No DLGSC funding streams specific to comedy, unlike other genres like live music 2.) No comedy included in the Perth Festival despite programming nearly all other major art forms 3.) No comedy included in the annual WA Day Program 4.) Tourism WA recently funded the Perth Comedy Festival which is run by a Sydney organisation and features majority of talent from outside WA - meaning nearly all box office sales leave the state (this would be less of a problem if the WA Comedy industry was also funded to balance things out - which it is not). Please note: I am not saying don't fund PICF at all. 5.) WA Comedy Week (A festival designed by me to exclusively promote WA Comedy talent) was rejected for funding 3 times in 2022 by the DLGSC under weak grounds such as questioning the quality of its own WA talent. All post event attendee surveys for WA comedy week from 2022-2024 have rated the quality of talent as either very high or extremely high. 6.) Comedy is one of the least funded arts genres by the DLGSC for the past few decades relative to other art forms 7.) Minimal coverage and support for WA Comedians by WA media (often downplayed as a much smaller niche than it is) 8.) Comedy is not included in the WA Performing Arts Awards. 9.) Think of all the advertisement campaigns produced across all mediums by WA brands and think of how many don’t use comedy or humour. 10.) Consider all the TV and Film productions produced in Western Australia and consider how many of them don’t use humour or cast WA comedy talent. I share this information because I think we can do a lot better as a state. If any of this information makes you uncomfortable, just remember - all I am trying to do is spread some laughter and joy with people in WA. We have both the WA Comedy talent and audiences receptive to WA comedy, but I believe an unnecessary glass ceiling is imposed upon it by conservative decision-makers. My inbox is always open if anyone would like to open a dialogue with me or arrange a meeting. I would like to acknowledge the support we get at local level from many councils (you know who you are!) Here's to a more humorous WA in 2025 and beyond! *Please note: comedy is much more than Stand-up - it extends to skits, podcasts, film, literature, ads etc etc #wacomedy #wacomedyweek #westernaustralia
