Inspiring Aspiration Within Your Team
Cole A. Randall

There is always a mission, a vision, but what was our ultimate purpose? We thought it was to complete the mission. But there was more to it than just that, there was something else.
A desire to become even more, to become somebody.
To keep moving forward to the next level.
As a leader we can’t just lead people to the level we think they want to be on, or where we want them to go. We have to lead them to the level they want to go.
That’s when I Connected these three things about Taking The Team To The Next Level
Connector #1: The Teams Aspirations
If we want to take our Business to the next level, we must first take our team to the next level. It would help us a lot to know their aspirations as well as our own Aspirations.
Who do they Desire to become? What do they aspire to be?
Almost everyone wants to be someone. They want to become somebody. They want to be important, they want a big reputation.
Who do you want to become?
What Reputation do you want to have when people think about you?
Do you want to be someone of importance?
The chances are that the majority of us here have aspirations of our own.
Here's something that Ken Gosnell Wrote in an article:
“Aspiration is often a leadership trait that is ignored. However, every great leader is a person that aspires. They aspire to become a better person and to grow and develop a better organization. The Inspiring Robert Browning once wrote, “Our aspirations are our possibilities.” He was right. A leader without aspirations is like a captain of a ship that goes nowhere but in circles.”
As leaders we should have our own aspirations to become better, to become more than we already are. There is no finish line for us leaders, we continually grow, and when we become better in one area we aspire to become even better than that.
So what are your aspirations?
Is it to become a better leader?
To build a better organization?
To build a Million dollar business?
What are the aspirations of your team members?
Oftentimes people’s aspirations are to become more like someone they aspire to be like.
Someone they revere and look up too, someone that is an inspiration to them.
Is there a way we can help them to become more like that person they aspire to be like?
That is a powerful way to support them and help them become better team members, better people, better leaders.
And the most powerful thing we can be as their leader is to be that someone they aspire to be like.
To be their inspiration, to be the somebody they look up to and strive to model.
If your team members aspirations are to become more like you, then you will have one of the strongest influences on your team and the best possible way to truly help them become better.
Here’s a coaching question from Ken Gosnell,
“Would your team say that you are a leader worth following?”
I hope they will. And for many of you here I’m sure they would say you are a leader worth following. But we should never stop becoming even better.
And if your team would say that you are not worth following, then I ask, who do you need to become in order for them to say that you are a leader worth following?
Who do your team members need to become?
Master Shifu from Kung Fu Panda:
“I'm not trying to turn you into me; I'm trying to turn you into you.”
Po from Kung Fu Panda:
“Your real strength comes from being the best you you can be. Who are you? What are you good at? What makes you, you?”
Connector #2: Collective Growth
It’s great to have aspirations and to continually be growing ourselves to become better, but we also want to ensure that we have collective growth with each other.
If you are becoming the leader that is worth following, are they becoming the team member that is worth leading?
Whether they are or not, we as the leader need to always aspire to grow ourselves.
We must also be intentional about growing others too.
Not everyone will have aspirations to become somebody more.
Regardless, I believe it’s valuable to have a team aspiration of who we as a team need to be, become, or want to become.
If possible align the team aspiration with each member's aspirations, they will work harder to achieve that.
If not, then have a team aspiration that everyone can agree on and strive to become.
This is key because this is where we have an increase in the culture, mindset, attitude, ambition, purpose and improvement within the team.
When we as a team are working collectively to all become what we aspire to be. Then you will have a group of individuals growing together, bettering themselves for the benefit of the team and business.
As the team is gaining momentum and growing together, the next level could be limitless.
The team will keep growing, developing, and improving reaching new heights, achieving greater ambitions and who knows how far y’all could go.
However…
I can tell you that the team will only go as far as you are. So even if the team is growing collectively, they will not go any further than you are yourself.
This is either the life of the team or the death.
So if we are to take our Business to the next level we must take our Team to the next level and if we are to take our Team to the next level we must first take Ourselves to the next level.
Connector #3: Taking Ourselves To The Next Level
In my experience of being around many leaders I’ve often had leaders come to me and say things like,
“My team won’t develop themselves, I tell they should work on improving their skills, but they don’t listen”,
“I’ve already tried to get them to work towards their aspirations but they never do”,
“I’ve sent them to a team building class, but they didn’t implement anything”.
My response is always the same, “Well, what are you doing to develop yourself?” ,
“What are you doing to develop your leadership, or your communication skills?”
When was the last time you took a Leadership course?
Or Learned a new skill?
Or Read a book about communication?
When was the last time you Invested into yourself to become a better leader?
Have you ever invested into yourself to develop your leadership or communication?
The misconception that we have developed ourselves enough is a delusion.
The moment we believe that we no longer need to develop ourselves, that’s the beginning of the end of Us, our Team, and our Business.
The Team can only go up to 1 level below their Leaders level, and the Business can only go up to 1 level below the Teams level.
So if we want the team and business to go to the next level we must take ourselves to the next level first.
This could mean developing our listening, communication, leadership, or company skills.
Whatever it may be for you.
It’s important that the team sees and knows you are actively and continually developing yourself. That you are working towards becoming the leader worth following. That you are taking action to live up to the team's aspirations.
“Why should they have to develop themselves if their leader doesn’t even develop themselves?” Although I disagree with this type of mindset, it’s a far too common mindset others have.
So what should we develop ourselves in?
I would say the most important things to develop would be Leadership and Communication.
To develop yourself for the benefit of others.
Or develop yourself in order to achieve the team's ultimate purpose.
These topics are what has shaped my life today, by developing myself in Leadership and Communication continually I have had more success in every aspect of my life than ever before.
These topics are what I believe to be the foundation of everything I have achieved and will achieve in the future. I’ve become a better leader, a better follower, a better parent, a better friend, a better son, a better brother, a better husband, a better child of God, a better teacher, a better coach, a better person, a better public speaker, a better communicator, a better connector, I’ve developed a better mindset.
The point is I dedicated myself to a life of continual development, every aspect of my life has massively improved, and will continue to improve because I will continue to develop myself, to invest into myself and become the man I need to be for the benefit of others.
So I ask you, what is your next level?
Are you willing to do what it takes to get there?
Shifu: “If You only do what you can, You will never be more than you are now.”

Still Skeptical? Good!
- I don’t need to invest into myself to become a better leader!
Which is true, however usually the alternative is making mistakes that every leader goes through on their own to learn from. What comes from learning this way is also the price!
- I don’t have the time!
I understand that completely, Which is why you will have complete access to all the recordings and resources as well as any future training like this one too. So you can watch the recordings whenever you want.
- I don’t have the money
If someone is leading a team or an entrepreneur and they are not generating enough money to invest into themselves and help their team and business generate even more money. Then I don't know anybody in my life who needs to invest more than them.
- What if it doesn’t work?
What you will learn in the workshop is actionable methods that I do inside my teams and train others to do inside their own teams that have proven to work, things that I and other leaders had to learn from the hard way, by making our own mistakes. Mistakes that you won’t have to make yourself because I’ll be teaching you how to navigate around them.
- This won’t work for me, my company is different and my situation is different
There’s one thing all businesses have in common and that’s people. Leaders Run a business and Lead people, not the other way around! We’ll train you how to effectively lead a team so you can successfully run your business.
- This is bad timing I’ll look into this later
When will there ever be a good time? As leaders our time is almost always busy, and just about anything and everything that comes our way is bad timing. If we don’t take the time upfront then when will we? Most likely never. There is no better time than now.
