SBIR/STTR grants are a great tool for a business that wants to do research on a product that is aligned in some way with the needs of the US Government. It is a non-dilutive source of funding and a great credibility stamp for a young company. Each federal government department implements these programs in a slightly different way and there are hoops to jump through.
