Great to see this new blueprint for a modern digital government launched yesterday. Also great to see how this vision ties into a vision for digital inclusion, a few quotes from the blueprint: "There’s a con to every pro - .. the more we use technology, the harder we must work to serve people who are less able to use it, or less confident using it." "Addressing these means a fundamental shift - for whole organisations, not just digital teams ... digital inclusion must be at the heart of how we do this, ensuring as many people as possible can access public services digitally, and that we support the digitally excluded." "Aligning with other ongoing work on digital inclusion, we aim to improve digital access to public services and support the digitally excluded." Well done to everyone who developed the blueprint. It has a bold vision as well as clarity on the scale of the job to turn the vision into a reality and the commitment to making it happen.

The appointment raises serious questions about how forcefully the new regime will be enforced. From January 2025, new responsibilities for the CMA came into force under the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024. The new ‘digital markets competition regime’ enables the CMA to promote competition in fast-moving digital markets, while protecting UK consumers and businesses from unfair or harmful practices by the very largest technology firms. #ai #artificialintelligence #unitedkingdom

UK government’s support for Big Tech’s agenda for the use of AI for decision making in public services raises many ethical questions. As it stands, this UK Government’s AI plan is following the Big Tech agenda. The plan does not provide details on how AI’s impact on current UK jobs (how many UK jobs will be lost in different sectors), environmental impacts, what steps are being taken to protect UK citizens data. UK has long history of IT scandals, including recent Post Office Scandal What steps is the UK Government taking to prevent IT and AI Scandals from happening?
