I sincerely hope that the legislators look very closely at the proposed urban air mobility solutions being offered by the likes of Joby and archer, these companies claim that they will reduce congestion, I'm not too sure how? unless of course they have hundreds/thousands of these things flying in the airspace. The Air incident at Washington DC between a civilian jet and a military helicopter serves as a stark reminder that even in heavily regulated airspace mishaps can happen. Both these aircraft were from fairly stable and proven technologies. Add to increased pilot workload, difficult terrain, weather, unproven technology etc is most likey to compound the risks. I hope the "jetsons" fantasy is consigned to the wilderness, and kept well clear of urban settings. No matter what these manufactures claim, They can NEVER reduce traffic congestion, nor save Substantial savings in journey time, nor they have a compelling safety argument. The noise argument also is fickle, as noise is a function of the payload and range. More range require more batteries to be carried which add to the weight and when you add payload to it, this then requires more vertical thrust to overcome the weight, which means more noise. Meanwhile, whatever happened in Washington DC is shocking and the heart and prayers goes out to the families of people who were lost in this needless air accident. May the souls of all who perished rest in Peace. Amen. #AAM #UAM #aviation #safety #accident

Consistent with the ATR regime (i.e. Atlantic ridge regime), the coldest weather is expected next week across eastern Europe (from the Baltic countries to Ukraine, Moldova and the Black Sea region), as blocking high-pressure system builds up across the United Kingdom and slowly ebbs eastwards. On the rear flank of the anticyclonic circulation, the warmer continental air mass will linger across much of western Europe with above-average temperatures in practice, but in reality, the signal could be easily suppressed and attenuated given the time of the year, stronger nocturnal radiative cooling in the IR spectrum, weaker Sun strength and hence longer-lasting fog affecting the daily maximums. For many European countries, it will be a dry first week of November.

A contrail (condensation trail) is a line-shaped cloud produced by aircraft engine exhaust when flying at high altitudes, typically between 32,000 and 42,000 feet. These human-made clouds form when hot water vapor from jet engines meets cold, humid atmospheric conditions, causing the vapor to condense and freeze into ice crystals. Contrails can last from a few seconds to several hours depending on atmospheric humidity and temperature, and they play a significant role in aviation's climate impact by potentially trapping heat in the Earth's atmosphere. #military #defense #defence #aerospace #aviation #aircraft #aircrafts #airplane #airplanes #aviationlovers #engineering #technology #pilots

With wild fires unfortunately becoming an always more frequent and severe issue, it is great to see that more and more aircraft types become available that are able to support fire fighting missions. The #AirbusA400M, that I worked on for many years, is just one example with their firefigting kit they developed. And in the video below you see another one, much older one, a DC10 Airtanker. The list of aircraft types available for fire fighting is long. For those who are interested in more details, I recommend the Wikipedia article called 'Aerial Firefighting' which lists many aircraft. But it requires updating. Here in Spain we have a company developing unmanned firefighting aircraft (Singular Aircraft) which is also an amazing project which I am tightly following. So there is some hope, to help us get fires under control to some point... But we have the huge task to fight the reasons for those fires to happen, meaning we have to tackle Climate Change as such. And seeing the fights happening at the COP29 Azerbaijan Summit in Baku this week, I am afraid that we are very far from that objective.... #aerialfirefighting #aircraft #ClimateChange

It would be interesting to see integration of drones in firefighting as well.

We'll take a look at how air power, specifically air tankers that suck water from Lakes in just a Couple of seconds using scoopers to fight fire from the sky. Cal Fire operates its own fleet of aircraft, stationed at 14 airfields and 11 helicopter bases across the state. This setup allows most aircraft to reach fires within about 20 minutes, as long as there aren’t heavy Breeze like the Santa Ana Winds. The fleet includes tactical "O"V-10s, Broncos which often serve as lead aircraft, directing the coordinated efforts of the team. All of the aircraft work together, often making multiple flights each day to combat fires. Their goal? To precisely guide and support larger assets like the Super Scooper and the Boeing Seven Four Seven Super Tanker in dropping water or fire retardant, often sourced from nearby water bodies. Cal Fire also relies on its iconic Bell Huey helicopters, made famous during the Vietnam War. These versatile helicopters can pick up water from nearly any source using their attached buckets, making them invaluable for fighting wildfires in even the most remote areas. What Is the Retardant Used to Fight Fires? In battling the fires in Los Angeles, aerial operations have primarily involved aircraft collecting seawater from the Pacific Ocean. However, bright pink and red retardants have also been utilized to coat flames on the ground. Even after the water evaporates, the fertilizer remains on the ground, forming a visible red stripe that can persist for days or even weeks, providing a continued barrier against fire spread. ( ??? Ongoing bombardment of Israel is continuing with the first wave nearly complete. First of the one hundred medium-range ballistic missiles are being intercepted right now, with the interceptions mostly occurring at high altitude with large diameter blast waves rocking the atmosphere. Second wave is expected within an hour or so, to include additional drones, ballistic rockets, and cruise missiles. United States and British warplanes scrambled to assist with interceptions. Israeli Dooms Day planes are already airborne. Many want Israel to go all in to attack Iran, but Western Allies are encouraging patience to ensure that no "too much" firepower is deployed to the point where a regional war cannot be controlled. I find this process of analyzing the situation, considering consequences of the actions, and then making a decision how best to act. This could be an effort to purposely trick Israel into a large scale war and Israel is trying to decide how best to respond with the least resources to maximize the lethal effects. https://lnkd.in/gvgUwtCF https://lnkd.in/gnbUhUjW Ward Carroll has interesting insight in how the command processes the intelligence. The Enforcer channel has the most up to date information, much better than most sources and offers live updates from local resources. What would you guys do in this situation, how would you respond, and what traps/tricks do you think are in play here? Iran likely will attempt to ensnare the IDF into overcommitting their forces while keeping face with their own Iranian public opinion. They have to attack Israel enough to make themselves look great, but not too much to risk too much damage in return. I think this current situation will provide insight into how an China induced Indo-Pacific conflict could kick off if their fishing fleet was attacked or their country somehow was embarrassed over the contested South China Sea
