Hot off the presses! Today marks the release of the highly-anticipated Giving USA report, the compilation and analysis of statistics in charitable giving across the US for 2023. Some highlights: ?? Total giving is up over 2022 figures but down slightly when adjusted for inflation. ?? Total giving is up over 28% from 2019 to 2023 showing a longer-term upward trend. ?? Giving is up across all categories of donors: Individuals (still supreme at 67% of the total), Foundations, Corporations and Bequests. ?? Giving is up across all categories of recipients: Religion, Education, Human Services, Health, International Affairs, Arts, Culture and Humanities, and Environment and Animals. There's even some good news for LUNA Instructor Glenn Kaufhold who teaches a session he calls Middle Donor Magic: 89% of mid-level donors report planning to give again in the next 12 months. Also interesting is the analysis of the great wealth transfer from the silent and boomer generations to younger generations. At $84 trillion it is the largest in history. So much to dive into here.
