Underscoring TRC-DMH’s mission to promote digital mental health is a commitment to translational research. Translational research differs from basic clinical research by focusing on bridging the gap between research findings and real-world applications. Researchers in this field collaborate closely with industry stakeholders, community organizations, and institutional partners to identify pressing social issues and ensure (re)assessment opportunities throughout the research lifecycle. By adopting an applied-research approach, translational research enable scientific findings that respond to genuine human needs. #TWC #MentalHealth #TranslationalResearch #DigitalMentalHealth?

?? Live from the ESSPD Congress in Antwerp! ?? Today, I had the privilege of presenting on the critical role of blinding (and a bit on missing outcome data) in randomized clinical trials of psychological interventions. Blinding helps minimize bias, yet it's often overlooked or underreported— especially in psychological trials. ?? Key Takeaways from my talk: - Our review found that only 58.7% of trials properly blinded outcome assessors. - Other key trial persons like participants, therapists, data managers and statisticians were frequently not blinded, which can bias the results. - Better blinding could lead to more reliable conclusions in psychological research, and when it’s not feasible, the risk of bias must be taken into account when interpreting effect estimates. It was an honor to present these insights at the ESSPD Congress in Antwerp, and I look forward to continuing the conversation on improving trial methodology in mental health intervention research. Special thanks to my co-authors Janus Christian Jakobsen, PhD, Sebastian Simonsen, Christian Gluud, Irving Kirsch #ESSPD2024 #ClinicalTrials #Blinding #Psychologicalinterventions #BiasPrevention

Hey LinkedIn fam! ?? Let's talk about something incredibly impactful – clinical research in the mental health sector. ??? Did you know that every breakthrough in mental health care, from innovative therapies to new medications, all starts with clinical research? Imagine a world where we better understand mental health conditions, provide more effective treatments, and reduce the stigma surrounding mental illness. That’s the world clinical research is helping us build! ???? Clinical research isn’t just about white lab coats and sterile rooms. It’s about real people, real stories, and real change. It’s the courageous volunteers who participate in studies, the dedicated researchers who push boundaries, and the clinicians who bring new insights into practice. Each trial, each study, and each data point bring us closer to a brighter, healthier future. ???? For instance, thanks to clinical research, we’re now exploring personalized treatments tailored to individual needs. This means more effective care and better outcomes for everyone. Imagine if we could predict mental health issues before they become critical, just like we do with heart disease or diabetes. That’s the power of clinical research! ???? So, why should we care? Because investing in mental health research is investing in our collective well-being. It’s about giving hope to those who need it most and empowering our communities with knowledge and support. Join me in celebrating the heroes of clinical research and the amazing progress we’re making in mental health care. Together, we can break barriers, transform lives, and create a future where mental wellness is a reality for all. ???? #MentalHealthMatters #ClinicalResearch #Innovation #HealthRevolution #InspireChange

Hello LinkedIn family! ? I’m delighted to announce the publication of my latest article, “ Unmasking Denial in Symptomatology: Delving into the Psychological, Sociocultural, and Contextual Factors of Denial of Patient Symptoms" now live on International Journal of Clinical Research! ?? In this piece, we aim to elucidate the denial of symptoms and its various underlying factors to make healthcare more inclusive of these variations in patient presentations. The culmination of this exploration underscores the intricate nature of symptom denial, revealing its multifaceted origins within individual psychology, societal norms, and the broader environment. Denial emerges not as a monolithic reaction but as a nuanced interplay of coping mechanisms, cultural beliefs, socioeconomic factors, and health literacy. I’m eager to share my findings with you. A heartfelt thank you to #SakshamSharma for your support and invaluable feedback. Your expertise and encouragement were instrumental in shaping this work. #researchpublication #USMLE
