Harold and AHRC community artists Mildred, Richard, Wenceslao, Denise, and several from East Meadow Arts submitted pieces to The Arc of New York's 2024 Art Competition in the fall. Day Services Manager Liz, Program Coordinator Marc, and Activities Specialist Amy created a special basket with a certificate, custom sweater, and framed photo to gift Harold for joining the contest. This made him very happy and proud. Congratulations to the winners and all those who submitted their beautiful art. Seeing the range of talent and creativity showcased by the community is amazing. Check out this post from one of our recent graduates, Emily Zarse!
I'm over the moon that the amazing Hettie Judah is visiting Bloomington this week! Her book "How Not to Exclude Artist Mothers (and Other Parents)" offers so much support and insight. Stars aligned and The Kinsey along with Arts and Humanities Council is hosting a conversation with Hettie this Friday May 10th 6pm at The Bishop- which is right across the street from my new collaborative exhibit exploring art and mothering with painter Gloria Manzanares. Come out for what is to be an amazing talk and stay after when we'll lead an informal gallery tour of the exhibit "Creative ReProduction" at the John Waldron Arts Center. Talk is 6-7:30pm and tour to follow. Spread the word and check out Hettie's amazing body of work including new book “Acts of Creation”

Self-Esteem Arts helps students to communicate and learn how to approach things differently using various arts forms all while building confidence.#ArtsInCT #AfterSchoolPrograms #confidencebuilding
Arts in CT offers a program called "Self-Esteem Arts" designed to assist students in our afterschool program in connecting with their emotions and developing self-confidence. Through various art forms such as visual arts and performing arts, we guide students in expressing their feelings and perceptions. Each day, students explore a concept and create visual representations of their emotions and perspectives. In the attached image, a young man depicted his view of the world by illustrating "Night and Day."
