The discharge ducting is a mess in terms of routing - too many bends and the direction of the discharge is not to a proper place. System effects are robbing the fan of performance, as the 90 degree elbow is bolted directly to the discharge flange of the fan. It also appears that this duct should be attached to a dust collector. There could be some other issues, but between the accumulated dust and the text on the photo it is difficult to see what all is going on here. Note: It's entirely too common to find mis-applied, mis-installed, and otherwise bewildering installations out in the wild... The other frustration with these situations is that the owners typically do not want to pay any money up front to have things done correctly, and are very reluctant to hire someone to come in and set things right and actually fix their problems.

How long have you been at AM and how did your career take you here? I have been at AMETEK MOCON for a year and 9 months. One of my previous co-workers was working here and he referred me to the open manufacturing engineer position. After a quick tour of the facility, I was intrigued by the technologies such as permeation, GA/GC, etc. … I decided to apply for the position and the rest is history! 2. What did you go to school for? I studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of Minnesota. 3. What’s your favorite part of your job? That there’s no monotony. Every day is a different day. 4.
