major sports competitions like the olympics or other international events like world youth day bring tons of people to cities they’d potentially wouldn’t visit otherwise. i remember seeing museums in rio with open doors to everyone during wyd, especially, and i strongly believe this is one of the best ways to spread the word of arts & culture. unlocking cultural experiences should be mandatory in any plan for big events. populating museums and galleries with art that is not “accessible” to the main audience, creating special exhibitions focused on the interests of this particular group visiting and having spaces open for free or during more hours are a few initiatives that can change a lot. #olympicgames #paris2024 #opendoors #bigevents #culturalmanagement

In partnership with Oriel College, the Oxford Zimbabwe Arts Partnership (OZAP) has launched a sculpture competition at the Chitungwiza Arts Centre in Zimbabwe. The winning sculpture will be the centrepiece of an exhibition at Oriel College continuing work to contextualise the contested history of colonialism in Zimbabwe and legacy of Cecil Rhodes. The Provost will chair the competition judging panel. He commented: “Through the partnership between Oriel College and OZAP, we look to foster dialogue, education and understanding.
