In 2022, Americans abandoned 94 million prescriptions because they couldn’t afford them. For every $1 increase in a drug’s list price, patients paid $2.09 more out of pocket—while pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) pocketed larger rebates. Congress needs to take action to stop the three big PBMs, which control 80% of the market, from driving up costs, forcing patients into their own high-priced pharmacies and putting local pharmacies out of business. ? The solutions are simple and ready to implement: -Full transparency in?PBM pricing and rebate practices. -Delinking PBM compensation from drug prices to remove incentives for higher costs. -Sharing negotiated savings directly with patients at the pharmacy counter The evidence is clear, and bipartisan support for reform exists. Yet Congress has failed to act. Each day of delay costs families, businesses and local communities millions. ? With just weeks left in this legislative session, Congress must pass PBM reform now. Patients cannot afford another year of price-gouging and abandoning prescriptions. ?
