Today, we’re featuring another quick response project! This is our first DOTD project in Louisiana. We’re supplying foamed glass aggregate to the Belle Chasse Bridge, which is a key connector on the outskirts of New Orleans. This site is challenged with issues related to the soft, compressible soils of the Mississippi delta. Project credits – Contractor: Traylor-Massman JV (Traylor Bros., Inc. and Massman Construction Co.), Wall Contractor: Pinnacle Design/Build Group, Inc. ? #FGAFriday #LADOTD #AeroAggregates #Sustainability ?#ultralightweight

Supplied by Keyline Braintree, FP McCann Ltd first concrete-free headwall has been installed at the Elsenham park housing development in Hertfordshire. ?? Recognising the groundbreaking science behind the concrete-free headwall, the project’s leading infrastructure contractor, MACL Ltd, wanted to be a part of a trial of this nature. With cement and steel reinforcement being large contributors to concrete’s carbon footprint, FP McCann’s approach, using EFC binder and synthetic fibre reinforcement, offers a more sustainable alternative while increasing the structure’s service life. Find out more about this project in our latest edition of Ground Up here > https://lnkd.in/eqDNn8Za #CivilEngineering #Civils #ConcreteFree #Construction

A new residential development in Lake Havasu, Arizona, is enhancing roadway access and stormwater management with 360 linear feet of 8'x4' reinforced box culvert (RCB) from Geneva Pipe and Precast. Constructed in five individual barrels, the precast culvert provides a durable foundation for a new access road while managing stormwater flow beneath it. For this project, we manufactured 45 pieces of RCB—a significant quantity that could have created challenges in fabrication and storage. By working closely with our long-time partner, G-Oxley Construction, we synchronized manufacturing and delivery to align with their installation schedule. This careful coordination minimized storage demands and ensured the contractor had the materials they needed, exactly when they needed them. A little #TBT, construction style. The Hoover Dam project. As the largest concrete structure ever imagined (at the time), the Boulder Dam as it was called was officially authorized in 1928. As you can imagine, the project was a first-of-its-kind in many different ways. Here are just a few stats on the magnitude of the effort. ONE model city built just as the HQ. FIVE years to construct. SIX different contractors. ONE HUNDRED & TWENTY degree peak temperatures. FIVE THOUSAND, TWO HUNDRED plus craft a peak. ONE HUNDRED & TWELVE confirmed dead in construction accidents, 96 of which happened on the site itself. Also, that doesn't include any deaths that resulted from pneumonia (reportedly 42 more). And one of the recorded deaths was simply a visitor to the site. It is easy sometimes to complain, or at least get annoyed by the safety rules and regulations that "hamper" or "slow" production. But when you're talking about over 100 lives, at the end of the day it's worth it. I've taken the Dam tour twice, and I would highly recommend it. I plan on doing a recurring series of TBT posts on fascinating historical projects, feel free to click follow if you want to come along for the ride. #Construction is cool, tell your friends! #capitalprojects #contech Kahua #constructioniscool
