Excellence Flows With Timing The concept of timing is so important, no matter how skillful you are, if you do not align with perfect timing, you will lose out greatly on acquiring wealth. A lot of persons are great cooks. They operate good restaurants but they open late. And they lose 80 percent of their customers who eat early and go to work because they lack discipline to adhere to perfect timing. Some tailors are so skilful, if you see their designs and attention to details, you will shed a tear. But they have bad timing. Customers quarrel with them before they can get their clothes. What should take 4 days, gulp 14 days and some of them do not have such manners to communicate their delay. You can't be wealthy with bad timing. No one has the patience to tolerate your bad management of time. You must be precise and on time to sync your great skills with the expectations of your customers. This translates to wealth and growth. #time #marines #lifeatsea #crew #fishermen #shipowner #ships #vessel #men #women #shipping

Reflecting on my journey from military service to multiple career paths, one truth stands out: the undervalued power of blue-collar work. As someone who's been on both sides of the employment spectrum, I've witnessed firsthand the dedication and impact of these roles. Let’s shift our perspective and recognize the integral role they play in our daily lives. A collective approach to valuing every profession can redefine success for many. #CareerReflections #BlueCollarSkills

Private Quinn was great at his job in the Army as a CI Agent - getting sent to handle investigative actions that normally the Sergeants took No other junior enlisted were trusted like this, but... When promotion waivers were available, I didn't get them They went to the junior enlisted that looked good in their over-starched uniforms, yelled the loudest in PT, and said "huah" all the time I was so pissed off!!!! Why didn't my leadership see how I was out-performing the others? But I had an epiphany... What if I learned what my leadership valued in making these decisions (uniforms, PT, Huah), DID THAT and then continued to excel at my job...even though I thought they were irrelevant? So I did - and was first-promoted the entire rest of my career #quinnsights How does this apply to the transition? Many of us when getting out focus on the things we find important (typically leadership and other soft skills) But fail to highlight or show the things EMPLOYERS are looking for Resulting in other people getting selected But if you take the time to learn what hiring managers are really looking for and show them THAT, the sky is the limit #militarytransition Side note: Hard skills and experience get you the interview Soft skills get you the job and future promotions Questions?

“Work as hard as you can even though who you work with and what you work on are more important than how hard you work” - Naval During the early days of my career, sometimes my colleagues and I would go to work and not get back home for days. Its from the office to a hotel and back to the office, next thing you are on a plane out of town without seeing your family for weeks. It was not always like that, but on the days when it came it was intense. What is the value of all that HARD work today ? Watch till the end #careercoaching #workethics

https://lnkd.in/gBK2wdPa "And the moral of the story is, whatever you're doing, do it at an ultra-high level. You have no idea how far that one little wink, that one little nod, that one little head tilt, will infect the next generation to come up and back-fill you. I don't care if you're a banker, a baker, an orthodontist -- whatever you're going to be -- if you do it at a super-high level, the professionalism cannot be ignored. It's infectious ... And we talk about that -- that job fair concept ... are you shaping your vessel to represent your entire group, wherever you go? ... And the faster people get on board with that, the better off we'll all be." -- DJ Shipley. SEAL Team 10; NSW Development Group; Co-Founder at GBRS Group #professionalism #development #skill #service

Don’t take my word for it, have a listen to how Kate Winslet motivates herself for an audition. She describes having to have ‘humble determination’, to be focused, steady and to stay the course. I watched a much shorter clip than this on another social media app and can’t find the trimmed version but have a watch from 1:25 onwards. Next time you’re going for a job interview, doing a big presentation or being in a position where someone else is making a yes/no decision on you, think of having humble determination. If you don’t back yourself, who will?? #Leadership #HumbleDetermination #ExecutiveRecruitment #WeArePenna https://lnkd.in/essE_kF7

?? Personal update ?? ?? Setting Sail with the Royal Navy ?? As of May, I'll be embarking on a six-month mobilisation with the Royal Navy – my first official ‘career break’. Except that’s not how I see it. As a society, we tend to measure success by time spent in the workplace. But we often fail to recognise and harness other opportunities that can really add value – both personally and professionally. My time as a reservist has exposed me to environments that stand in stark contrast to my corporate job. I love the practical, hands-on, and fast-paced nature of it. And I’ve learned to apply myself in completely different ways. Stepping into new environments sparks fresh perspectives, challenges our points of view, and fosters invaluable skills that benefit not only ourselves but also the organisations we contribute to. Career breaks aren't (and shouldn’t be) solely reserved for certain life milestones. They're often pathways to personal and professional growth, regardless of age or gender. It's time to normalise more diverse career journeys and embrace the possibilities and opportunities they offer. And it’s definitely never too late! Big thank you to my employer York Consulting LLP for their support as I embark on this adventure. Here's to embracing new challenges, broadening your horizons, and not being afraid to step outside your comfort zone! #CareerBreak #RoyalNavy #NewBeginnings #ProfessionalGrowth #DiversityInCareers #NewChallenge #CareerJourney
