An NRC is more than just an ID—it is a gateway to rights and opportunities. Unfortunately, corruption has made the process of obtaining this document difficult for many vulnerable groups. This week, AAAZ, in partnership with Diakonia, hosted a two-day content creation meeting in Lusaka, bringing together stakeholders from various sectors to amplify the call for transparency and fairness in NRC issuance. Listen to our Executive Director, Luchembe MK Chilufya, share powerful insights in an interview with Komboni RADIO 94.9 FM - Hakuna Kulala, where he emphasized the urgent need for change to ensure every Zambian can access their NRC without barriers. #MYIDMYRIGHTS #AccountabilityForAll #EndNRCbribes

Welcome to September, a month that often marks a time of reflection and renewed commitment. With just 12-weeks before the 16 Days of Activism commences on 25 November, it is crucial for us as media practitioners to remember the role we play in reporting on gender-based violence, particularly when it involves minors. Our work carries immense weight, and how we handle these stories can either foster change or perpetuate harm. In Nigeria, where Kano remains the only state yet to pass the Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) Act, the need for responsible, ethical journalism is more pressing than ever. https://lnkd.in/djWmhx_Z

A Radical Agenda for justice ?? In honoring the legacy of Hon. Monica Kivuti, radical advocacy for judicial reform transcends mere procedural adjustments. It demands a paradigm shift towards a judiciary that not only administers justice but embodies safety, equity, and resilience. Chief Justice Martha K. Koome's commitment to reform is pivotal, yet the true test lies in the judiciary's ability to embrace change empowering stakeholders fortifying security, and paving a transformative path towards justice for all. As we mourn the loss of a dedicated judicial officer, let us unite in demanding radical reforms that ensure tragedies like the one at Makadara Law Courts become relics of the past. The time is now- to safeguard our courts, empower our communities, and uphold the sanctity of justice in Kenya.

The Supremacy of the Constitution in South Africa Section 2 of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, 1996, establishes the Constitution as the supreme law of the land. It unequivocally states that any law or conduct inconsistent with the Constitution is invalid, and all obligations imposed by it must be fulfilled. This supremacy ensures that all government actions, laws, and policies are subject to constitutional scrutiny, providing a foundation for a fair and just society. A key component of this is the Bill of Rights, enshrined in Chapter 2, which guarantees the fundamental rights and freedoms of all individuals. These rights, ranging from equality and dignity to freedom of expression, are not just ideals but enforceable principles protected by the courts. The supremacy of the Constitution creates a framework where accountability and the rule of law prevail. It ensures that no individual, entity, or branch of government is above the law, reinforcing the values of democracy, transparency, and human rights. #ConstitutionSupremacy #BillOfRights #SouthAfricanLaw #RuleOfLaw
