You gotta love the event industry and the weird things we have to worry about. In the past week I've had 2 conversations with separate event producers about people falling asleep and almost getting locked in porta potties for the night. This more than anything makes me wonder about the person who would do that. I feel like a need a hazmat shower if I even step foot in one. But also it's kind of why I moved from TV/Film to events. This is a transition video from an empty arena rehearsal day video with no fans to a biggest-event-of-my-life video with 41,000 fans for the Savannah Bananas More than that, it’s a transition video that represents how it started vs how it’s going. The truth is: when I started announcing sports, I actually announced in front of LESS people than in the empty arena shot (there were nights with single digit audiences). There were nights 8 years ago as a trivia host where I had to cancel the show after showing up, setting up, and plugging in because NO ONE showed up. I would have to break it all down and go home empty handed after sinking time and energy into shows that never were. But even then: the effort was there. I did the work, I showed up, I dressed up, and I kept getting better every single day. I never reused the same music playlist twice for trivia. I kept watching, reading, and listening to others who I could learn from. I would record myself and watch/listen back so I could give myself notes when no one would give me the feedback I needed to get better… I wanted to be the best in the world at what I do. I wanted to host events better than anyone hosts events… I still want that. And the truth is, I still have a ways to go… but I know that goal is reachable. If I can go from bar rooms, malls that no one goes to, and medical supply warehouses with a ring inside them in the roughest parts of town to sold out arenas with tens of thousands of screaming fans….
