Business leaders take note: "You will be judged by the outcomes of the teams that you lead." Anyone who knows Allen Cobb as well as I do knows he loves a good sports analogy. This one was particularly timely because when we interviewed him, the Minnesota Timberwolves still had a glimmer of hope in the NBA playoffs ?? All jokes aside, this is a powerful reminder that organizations will perform better through #collaboration and collective input vs the ideas/performance of an individual. #Teamwork makes the dream work, baby!

Reflecting on Ed Reed's wisdom shared during an interview with Emmy Award winner Joe Buck, this past weekend, following Super Bowl Sunday, brings a poignant reminder that success isn't solely about grand gestures. As a Pro Football Hall of Famer, Reed emphasized that our professional journeys, much like the Ravens' Super Bowl triumph in XLVII during the 2012-2013 NFL season, are shaped by seemingly insignificant details – the little things. Whether it's maintaining a tidy workspace or executing tasks with precision, excellence stems from our commitment to every aspect of our roles. In our pursuit of success, let's not underestimate the impact of these small actions. Channeling the spirit of champions, let's focus on the inches, fight for every detail, and make a habit of excellence. As Al Pacino emphasized in "Any Given Sunday," success is indeed a game of inches, and those inches are present in every break of our roles around us. Let's strive for greatness by conquering the small challenges and doing the little things right. #SuccessInDetails #Wisdom #ProfessionalExcellence

It’s what she does to make those other teammates better." So how can we bring out the best in not only ourselves but also our teammates? At Vexcel Data Program, I'm grateful to have a pretty good team. Check out this article on Caitlin Clark and her impressive leadership skills on the court. #sales #leadership #teamwork #success

?? The recent setbacks for Mousesports have been enlightening. Coming into the series against the Falcons, they seemed to be extra cautious, aiming to avoid Dallas. Interestingly, that loss on Vertigo might have been a wake-up call they needed. Here are the key takeaways: - **Burnout:** Their break before Dallas might have backfired, showing how crucial consistent practice is. - **Avoiding High-Stakes Matches:** The strategy to dodge Dallas resulted in a shaky start at EWC. - **Season Opener:** A low note at 24 in their first half - a signal they need to recalibrate and jump back stronger. How do you handle burnout and ensure your team stays sharp? Share your thoughts and experiences! ?? #BusinessStrategy #Productivity #TeamManagement #Esports #Burnout #Leadership #

Out now! Sheila Gerami's "The Hall of Fame for Great Americans: A Biography of Stanford White's Forgotten Memorial" and Travis Stern's "Ballplayers on Stage: Baseball, Melodrama, and Theatrical Celebrity in the Deadball Era" are available in hardcover on utpress.org. Dive into history with these captivating reads! "The Hall of Fame for Great Americans" provides a window into the cultural changes taking place in the United States from the turn of the twentieth century into the twenty-first. This book is the first examination of the institutional and social history of America’s first hall of fame, from its dynamic opening in 1901 through its protracted decline in the late twentieth century and its brief return to relevancy in the early twenty-first century. In "Ballplayers on Stage," Travis Stern explores the relationship between professional baseball and professional theater in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. In particular, he argues that examining theater from this era helps us better understand baseball’s development and its transformation from a strictly working-class attraction to an entertainment that attracted interest from America’s emerging middle class. Baseball players’ theatrical productions drew audiences from the baseball world, and in turn their performances on the diamond began to attract middle-class crowds. But how did the on-field persona of those players as heroes or villains contribute to their image in the theater, and vice versa? Order your copy today to find out.

I'm not a huge NFL fan but my assistant is, and she shared this story with me that I think serves enough of a purpose to be told to my fellow LinkedIn friends. Many of you probably already know this but let me give you my spin. The story of Detroit Lions Kicker, Jake Bates. This story is one of remarkable resilience. Bates, a rookie kicker who started as a soccer player at Central Arkansas and never attempted a field goal in college, made the most crucial kick of his life the other week. His field goal secured a victory for the Lions over the Vikings, pushing Detroit to first place in the NFC North. Much to my assistant, Kallie Simons dismay. Can you guess where Jake Bates was 18 months ago... Selling bricks. That is pretty remarkable but here is why I love this story. Bates’ journey is a reminder that where we are today doesn’t dictate where we’ll be tomorrow. The truth is, none of us know where we’ll be 18 months from now. I can't promise you’ll be kicking field goals on a national stage or landing some huge contract, but I can promise this: if you keep moving forward, keep putting in the work, and keep believing in the magic of your goal, you won’t be in the same place you are today. Momentum doesn’t come overnight, but it does come. So, whatever your “NFL” dream is, keep kicking. The results might just surprise you Happy Friday! #KeepGoing #Momentum #GrowthMindset #StayFocused #DreamBig

Mastering the Art of Letting Your Game Speak ?? Growing up, I was all about the trash talk—a defense I learned from my dad. Back then, it felt powerful to talk a big game, and I loved it. But as I got older, I realized talking doesn’t always earn respect. Sometimes, true impact comes from letting the work speak for itself. Take Damian Lillard’s unintentional jab at Steph Curry during the 2020-21 season. Dame was on the “Get Got Pod” talking about the intense defense Steph was facing during a tough stretch for the Warriors—double-teamed, triple-teamed, defenses closing in on him like he’d never experienced before. Dame casually compared it to how he was guarded when his own team was struggling, reflecting on the highs and lows that come with being the face of a franchise. The media, however, spun the comment differently, and Steph—one of the game’s most competitive spirits—answered on the court. Two days later, he went off for an unforgettable 62 points against Portland, a masterclass in silent payback. No trash talk, no post-game jabs—just an on-court statement that said everything. As an adult, I’m taking that same approach. There’s a time for words and a time to just perform. In the end, true competitors know when to let their actions do all the talking. #Leadership #GrowthMindset #Competition #StephCurry #DamianLillard #NBA #Basketball #PowerOfSilence
