Join us in creating a more inclusive and equitable world! ???? Want to become a better LGBTQ+ ally at your workplace? Here are 5 effective ways to show your support: 1. Be open to learn and educate yourself. There’s plenty of information online; don’t burden LGBTQ+ individuals to educate you. 2. Add pronouns to your email signature and introduce them when meeting new colleagues. 3. Speak up against anti-LGBTQ+ comments and explain why they are not welcome. 4. Use inclusive language in everyday conversations and professional interactions. For example, use “partner” instead of “spouse.” 5. Understand that mistakes will happen. Be open to apologize and seek guidance when you do. Remember, allyship is an ongoing action, not just a label. Hope you find these tips useful! Share them with someone who can benefit from them. #LGBTQInclusion #LGBTQAI+ #LGBTQAIplus #CelebratingPride #DEI #DEIB #DiversityAndInclusion #WorkplaceEquality #WorkplaceEquity #IntentionalInclusion #InclusionAtWorkplace #EmployeeFirst #InclusiveWorkplace #LGBTQAlly #EmployeeRetention #PrideMonth #PrideMonth2024

As LGBTQ+ month comes to an end… I want to shout out to my brother Karl Wightman. I am so proud of him for his courage and bravery in embracing his true self and living authentically as part of the LGBTQ+ community??. Karl journey has been a JOURNEY but he continues to embrace and celebrate everyone, fostering an environment of acceptance and love. And to Luís Jo?o D. who has taught me so much on the importance of being a proactive advocate for D&I in the workplace. He has consistently turned up as his true self, encouraging people around him to stand up against unacceptable behaviour and consistently being bold in life?? Watching them both make a difference to those around them reminds me of the power of authenticity and inclusivity. ??I am proud to stand by both of their sides and support them in their journey?? —— Here are a few tips on how we can contribute to a more inclusive community at work: 1. Take the initiative to learn about LGBTQ+ issues and experiences. This builds understanding and empathy. 2. Challenge discriminatory remarks or behaviours. Silence can be interpreted as acceptance. 3. Respect preferred pronouns and use gender-neutral language. 4. Foster environments where everyone feels safe to express their true selves. 5. Be an advocate for inclusive policies and practices within your organisation. #PrideMonth2024 #LoveIsLove #Inclusivity

Excited to engage with the Desautels Graduate LGBTQ+ Association this Friday to discuss the impact of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) on creating truly inclusive work environments. It's always a privilege to discuss how EDI intersects with business strategy. As a consultant, a large part of my practice focuses on guiding organizations to become more diverse, inclusive, and aligned with their broader strategic goals. Building inclusive cultures not only strengthens teams but also drives sustainable business growth, while allowing people to be authentic. Looking forward to a meaningful conversation! Diversity fuels creativity and sparks innovation—but it starts with ensuring everyone feels welcome and valued. #EquityDiversityandInclusion #EDI #Leadership #InclusiveWorkEnvironments #BestPractices #Skills #TaughtLeadership #McGill #Desautels #LGBTQ #Strategy #ChangeManagement #Creativity #Innovation

It’s fantastic to see so many companies posting about the start of pride month but… How many of these companies are actually supporting their LGBTQ+ staff? With everything that’s going on in the world at the minute including the homophobia and transphobia in the current UK government, is it a surprise that over a third of UK workers feel that they need to hide their sexuality at work? You might have added the rainbow flag to your branding and put out a post about it being pride month but have you… ?? Developed an inclusive recruitment process to encourage LGBTQ+ applicants to apply? ?? Provided education and training to your staff around inclusive language and the use of pronouns? ?? Created a fully inclusive policy around parental leave? These are just a few examples, there are so many more things that you can do to support your LGBTQ+ members of staff. Of course, pride is a time to celebrate but it’s also a time for action. The community needs real allyship and support, not just a performative post on LinkedIn. #Pride #LGBTQIA #Pride2024 #Inclusion

Did you know? This is Barbara Gittings (1932-2007) — Known as the mother of the LGBTQ+ rights movement, Gittings organised the New York chapter of the Daughters of Bilitis and edited the first lesbian publication, "The Ladder." She was instrumental in the fight to end the classification of homosexuality as a mental illness. When everyone is included, everyone wins. Pride Month, celebrated every June, honours the LGBTQ+ community's vibrant diversity and achievements. It's a time to unite and commemorate progress towards equality and acceptance for all sexual orientations and gender identities. We spotlight pioneers whose courage, achievements and authenticity have profoundly impacted their communities and the world. Additionally, we deeply value our relationships with LGBTQ+ colleagues, clients, customers, partners and suppliers, recognising their essential role in advancing the world of Global Mobility. Happy Pride Month! #DidYouKnow #PrideMonth #SantaFeRelocation #SantaFeRelocation #AssignmentManagement #CompensationManagement #DestinationServices #Immigration #Moving #GlobalMobility #HumanResources #HR #GlobalMobilityForEveryone

In today’s world, inclusion is more than a corporate buzzword —it’s a moral imperative. HBR’s piece "Why Companies Must Recommit to the Fight for LGBTQ+ Rights", serves as a reminder that standing up for LGBTQ+ rights isn’t just the right thing to do—it’s essential for fostering a culture of diversity, equity, and belongingness. ? But here’s the truth ? : you don’t have to be LGBTQ+ to advocate for LGBTQ+ rights. Advocacy starts with allyship. Also next year, I’ll be publishing a study for OUT Moris, supported by the Kaleidoscope Trust. This research will provide invaluable insights into the lived experiences of Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender individuals in Mauritius, focusing on how Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belongingness (DEIB) frameworks resonate—or fail to resonate—with their realities. #LGBTQRights #DEIB #Allyship #Mauritius #OUTMoris #InclusionMatters #Advocacy

#WednesdayWisdom “First, we’ve known for years that when LGBTQ+ employees feel comfortable being “out” at work, engagement and retention rates are much higher. The data is telling. In a 2023 survey from Out Leadership, 97% of LGBTQ+ employees who rated their organization highly on measures of inclusion expected to remain with their employer for the next year. Conversely, just 38% of workers who rated their organization at the low end of the spectrum for LGBTQ+ inclusion anticipated remaining at their company over the next year — a 59 percentage point difference. The cost of this enhanced attrition rate for companies is staggering. When employees don’t need to lie at work and can claim all aspects of their identity, they are much more likely to be fully engaged and “go the extra mile” for their company. They are also much more likely to stick around.” Read more from Sylvia Ann Hewlett and Todd Sears in Harvard Business Review: https://lnkd.in/gBhtXAMW #pridemonth #pride2024 #compassionateworkplace #DEI
