Really interesting read. Much of this is highly relevant for the increasing use of AI in other sectors as well, although the implications of using AI in a military context are obviously much different (and often much more severe). How suitable are very traditional and hierarchical organisations like the armed forces to integrating cutting-edge technology? Lots of interesting follow-up questions remain but this is definitely worth a read. #AI #technology #military

Out now: my policy brief on human machine interaction and human agency in the military domain for the Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI). This reflects on what increased practices of human-machine teaming as a result of militaries employing AI technologies mean for the exercise of human agency in use-of-force decision-making. I argue that such practices of human-machine teaming introduce forms of distributed agency between humans and AI technologies.
