I've said for a while that if I was Air Canada or WestJet I'd be exploring how I got involved in high speed rail between Canada's urban centres, and its airports. The thing is, are they doing this to actually transform their business model into something more sustainable, or are they doing this to protect their existing market position? If you look at how European airports have become more interconnected with the high speed rail network (including Air Canada doing integrated ticketing), this could be a smart move not just for the company, but the industry as a whole. The next age of the train is coming. https://lnkd.in/gDGM486K

??Gulf Air?has recently announced adding Munich to its Europe non-stop network. The route will be operated daily, withAirbus 321NEO airplanes, departing Bahrain at 1:35 AM. ??Launching new route always requires a lot of effort. Finding the optimal departure time is crucial to ensure the highest load-factors and best passenger comfort. Using our?Lufthansa Systems?state-of-the-art NetLine/Plan traffic forecast tool, I took a glimpse on different departure time options, to find the best one (purely Commercial perspective only). It is also clear that not always the best Commercial scenario can be implemened, for example due to A/C availability or the need to enable Operational A/C swaps, if need be. Operational factors have not been considered in this evaluation. ??NetLine/Plan is an industry leading tool, used by 20+ airlines globally, as well as various?OEMs?and consultancies. It supports decision making process related to airline network planning. It forecasts load-factors, as well as profitability, based on global schedules, global market size as well as revenue and cost data. Thanks to its multiple functionalities, it can help establish the best schedule for a new route. And it does it really fast, accurate and transparent! ??Taking into consideration the Minimum Connecting Time in BAH for?Gulf Air?operating flights (40 minutes) as well as the airline's bank structure and global Market Sizes, it seems that departing at 00:55 AM would be the best option. This schedule could likely increase average leg load-factor by +3.9ppts (6 passengers per flight). This may not sound like a lot, but assuming there will be 208 BAH-MUC legs in a year, this increase translates to 8 full planes! Any thoughts or comments? Does it make sense to you? ???If you would like to learn more about our #lufthansasystems NetLine/Plan tool, feel free to reach out. You will also find me in #Aarhus?during the upcoming?Routes?event next week. And, talking about?#Bahrain, you will also find me and my colleague?Jan Never?there, during the Routes World Conference in October! Tania Crinion?Dilhan Haradasa?#aviation?#avgeek

Over the past couple of days, key members of the BGS team attended the ???????? ???????????????? ???????????? ?????????? in Vienna, Austria ???? , where we met with over 30 clients spanning multiple airlines and fuel suppliers. One of the major talking points from the conference was the supply of SAF fuel to EU airports from 2025, aligning with the "ReFuelEU Aviation” initiative. We also informed our clients about our plans for SAF fuel delivery in the Baltic region. From 2025, aviation fuel that’s sold will need to contain a minimum of 2% SAF molecules if the airport's passenger traffic exceeds 0.8 million passengers or freight traffic exceeds 100,000 tons during the reporting period. This will be BGS's responsibility to ensure in the future and a challenge we are coordinating with just 6 months to go ahead of adoption. ?? With key industry changes imminent, our future plans, current business challenges, and solutions to improve efficiency were also hot topics, with the fuel tender process a priority for us. It’s been an extremely productive few days and we’d like to say a big thanks to both the organizers and the industry delegates in attendance. ?? OSL as the main airport hub in Norway? Of course Yes! First thing first. I am super happy with the service at OSL, SVG, BGO and the other airports in Norway running with speed and efficiency we as business travelers requires. But the key is we should rather look at OSL as the largest hub in Norway able to feed the rest of this country with passengers and cargo. However with our long stretched country and people who loves to travel abroad we always need direct flights as well. The market decides and the airlines need to adjust, but the key of course for all is to get stable and predictable cost, service and the same level of attention as the other gateways OSL compete with in EU and the Nordics. I would say my taking today was quite easy, less talk and more Just do it approach. It takes some guts to say this in this airline industry. At least now the stakeholders in Norway compete with the same goal in mind! Let us Continue to grow the passenger traffic to and from Norway with new routes and show the rest of the world the potential we have up here in the North! And needles to say, but anyway with more Pax aircrafts there will be more cargo capacity ??! ?? ? Oslo 10.10.24: Avinor Connecting Norway Conference #Avinor #OSL #Sas #Norwegian #Wider?e #

Norway’s CDO and CCO outperformed all of Europe in May. Eurocontrol monitors environmentally friendly “Continous Descent/Climb Operations” that reduce fuel consumption and noise pollution by allowing arriving and departing aircrafts to follow their optimal flight path. Seven out of ten arrivals, and nine of ten departures, followed an optimal flight path at Norway’s airports in May. This constitutes 69 per cent of arrivals and 92 per cent of departures. By comparison, the European average in May was 32 and 76 per cent, respectively. Norwegian and Wider?e deserve applause for their stellar performance and significant contribution to Norway’s ranking. The two airlines’ CDO and CCO performance in May was an impressive 80 and 95 per cent, respectively. ?? Photo: J?rgen Syversen MeetInNorway - Visit Norway VisitOSLO
