“In my mind, there are really only two things to focus on when you optimize and write the protocol for that big study early on. One, you're trying to prove not only that the therapy works, but in whom it works. And, secondly, you focus on reimbursement.” We recently sat down with Jason Hannon, CEO of Mainstay Medical. Previously, as COO of NuVasive, he led the company through significant milestones, including taking the company public. I love seeing these clips from LSI USA 2024. That conference went by so quickly that I missed too many terrific panels! I appreciate Chris Eso's take in this clip: “If you think about what the world looks like in 10-15-20 years from now from a medical device, it’s going to be all connected. It’s going to be all data generating. It’s going to be how you use that data to get better outcomes longer term.” This is exactly why The Shape Sensing Company is building tools to track surgical devices. Not just for navigation during procedures (which is a huge benefit), but the data associated with the navigation will inform us on what went right, what went wrong, and how to improve patient outcomes in the future. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with industry leaders and explore collaborative opportunities.
