From experience, I can say boldly that our communities need more than just programs and initiatives; we need to stay human-centred approach to transform our respective communities into a thriving environment where everyone feels empowered, connected and valued. _ Reminds me of a time when I found myself in a community that felt more like a collection of individuals than a cohesive group. Despite our shared goals, there was a palpable disconnect. People were hesitant to share their ideas, and a sense of belonging was lacking. It was during this time that I realized the importance of adopting a human-centred approach to community management. _ _ I then decided to host a casual hang-out, inviting community members to share their thoughts and experiences. To my surprise, the turnout was incredible! As we gathered, I noticed something magical happening: people began to open up. Stories flowed, laughter echoed, and for the first time, we truly connected. _ From that moment, I understood that our community needed more than just programs and initiatives; it craved empathy and understanding. I started to actively listen, encouraging everyone to voice their opinions and contribute to decision-making. We co-created solutions that resonated with our diverse needs through surveys, and slowly but surely, the community transformed. _ _ As we embraced this human-centred approach, I witnessed remarkable changes. Members felt empowered, collaboration flourished, and our collective impact grew. It was a beautiful reminder that when we prioritize people over processes, we create a thriving environment where everyone can shine. _ Now, I’m excited to share that I’ll be leading a discussion on "Adopting a Human-Centered Approach to Community Management later today on the Coterie Builders WhatsApp Community _ _ I invite you to join me as we explore practical strategies and share experiences that can help us build more inclusive and vibrant communities. See you in class.

Just had the 3rd call this week with a community manager who wasn't considering their "quality threshold". Each community has a unique quality threshold based on the dynamic of the community. Once the perceived average quality of members (in the context of the community) dips below a certain threshold, engagement plummets. In people-first communities, where members participate to find and connect with others, this threshold is when the “perceived status” of other members dips below a certain point. In content-first communities, where members primarily engage to transfer information, quality is determined by the content shared from others (so status isn’t as heavily weighted). In content-first cases, status is often community specific -- in a meme group, the greatest "shit poster" likely has the highest status. If you're building a community, make sure to consider the quality threshold, or your engagement will drop off.

Building an Engaged Online Community is Easy Well, that's what they say... ? Just launch a platform and expect people to show up ?? ? Post content daily and assume engagement will magically happen ??? ? Tell members “This is YOUR community!” but never give them a reason to participate ??♂? ? Set up an onboarding flow but never follow up with new members ???? ? Ask for feedback but never act on it ?? ? Expect people to stay engaged while offering zero incentives or recognition ?? ? Wonder why members leave… but never question if the community is actually valuable ?? Community engagement isn’t just about activity—it’s about meaningful participation. People don’t show up because you built it. They stay because they feel seen, heard, and connected. Make it worth their time.

How to build a thriving community. Creating engagement is the backbone of any successful community. For years, I struggled to foster genuine interaction within my network. Any time I tried to spark a conversation, it felt forced and fell flat. "Nobody cares" "You're wasting your time" "Why even bother?" I’m happy to say that through a combination of consistency and authenticity. I’ve built a vibrant community over the last few years. But I’m always on the lookout for new strategies. Today, I want to share one of the best methods I’ve found. It’s simple: 1. Show up consistently. Be present and active in your community. 2. Listen more than you speak. Understand what your community needs. 3. Create value. Share resources, insights, and support. For example, if someone in your community shares a challenge they’re facing, rather than just liking the post. Engage with them, offer advice, or share a similar experience. This approach has transformed my community into a space where people feel heard and valued. It’s “The single greatest way to build lasting connections.” Try this out, and let me know how it impacts your community.

Embracing your niche and loving your unique interests is key to building a genuine and engaged community. Don't compare yourself to others or try to replicate someone else's style; your authenticity is what will attract like-minded individuals who share your passions

some communities are built around very interesting topics or interests and so of course engagement might be high up there. but how about you with a topic or interests that’s just understood or appreciated by a few? you have to learn to love your own stuff! the moment you start trying to imitate another person or copy their style, you’re off track. it’s not ever going to be like that pop culture, ice cream loving community, but you’re going to have things within your community that’s interesting as well and your members will find it interesting. messages don’t have to pop in every 2 seconds for your community to be a thriving community. ? #communitybuilding

Example: “This is sh*t.” (Negative) You don’t have to sacrifice authentic, positive sentiment anymore. With Chatrlyst, you’re in complete control. How are you managing your comment sections currently? Let’s discuss how to strike the right balance between fostering community engagement and safeguarding your brand.
