Looks like Karl the Fog rolled in and temporarily obscured our first post. But hey, if our city can reinvent itself, so can we! Take 2, action! I'm incredibly proud to share the "Heart of the City" video series. 7 neighborhoods, 7 films, 1 love letter to San Francisco. This project wouldn't have been possible without our amazing team: - Lynn Bruni-Perkins, CDME: Unwavering leadership support - Tyler Cohn: MVP from strategy to launch. The glue of this project. - Charles Rubinoff: Invaluable on-location and editing insights - Louis Raphael: Crafted a stunning digital home for the series - Aaron Danzig: Look out for all our social content - Maddie Pratt: Kept our content marketing machine running smoothly - Brenton Gieser and Estevan Padilla (LvL Films): You both went above and beyond as our filmmaking partners And let's not forget the real stars of this show: the San Franciscans who opened their doors and hearts to us. Nearly two dozen locals who didn't just tell their stories but lived them right in front of our cameras. Their honesty, their love, their unwavering belief in SF's magic – that's what makes this project truly special. These folks remind us why San Francisco isn't just another dot on the map. It's a living, breathing, one-of-a-kind place that keeps reinventing itself while never losing its soul. --- If you still believe in the magic of San Francisco, repost ?? this to your network.
San Francisco's heart beats in its neighborhoods. Our Heart of the City campaign celebrates the authentic experiences that define us, showcasing the vibrant communities that shape our city's soul. We're reframing San Francisco's story, proving we're more than a destination—we're a tapestry of living, breathing communities. Each neighborhood pulses with its own rhythm, yet together, they create the symphony that is SF. Watch our inspiring anthem video and dive into our neighborhood series. Discover the heartbeat of our city, one vibrant community at a time. Find your heart: https://bit.ly/4edxyEs

Recognizing the features of tyranny within our society isn’t much of a sport; recognizing the deeper resonances of the tyrant as a part of the self is a little trickier. It is made difficult, in part, because the tyrant’s urge towards ‘self-achieved independence’ has so shaped our societal norms, customs and expectations that it has disappeared from view into the scenery of our lives. Once you look at what we accept as ‘normal’, though, you find that it flatters our sense of ‘self-achieved independence’—the essence of our mistaken identity—on every front. It shows up in the way we organize our eating (each person allotted her own bubble of space, defined by chair and placemat), our living (the scrupulously defined suburban lot with its stand-alone house, within which are our rigidly allocated bedrooms) and in our preferred modes of travel (the autonomous car, for instance, sealed as tightly as the self it carries). Communal pews are used mainly in churches and low-budget theaters—elsewhere in public we prefer any spot in which we sit to be clearly demarcated as ‘mine’. Our lives used to be interwoven with our communities; now they are largely confined by the walls of our residences. We even organize nature into isolated, controlled entities whenever we can, as evidenced in the way we like to order our gardens, and keep the wild out of our cities, and bury creeks in sewers, and manage any wilderness with which we interact as if it were a threat rather than a teacher. ~ Philip Shepherd, from the book New Self, New World #newselfnewworld #interbeing #interconnected #wearenature #separation #westernthinking

In December 2023, I was invited by Courtney Christensen from Kansas City Public Library to give a keynote to open their 150th anniversary celebrations. In January I learned that ART IN THE LOOP FOUNDATION, the public art program for #KansasCity run by Downtown Council of Kansas City, had been so inspired by the talk that they had chosen #convivencia as the theme for their public art summer with KC STREETCAR AUTHORITY. This is the impact that I hoped to see from my research. In my latest newsletter, Ann Holliday and Edwing Mendez talk about how the capability of #coexistence transformed into more than 20 performances and installations. I find this story of Kansas City so inspiring. The big takeaways from it are: 1. There is no greater tool for communicating values than #publicart. 2. Public authorities have power and should use their power on how public spaces are used as a platform for the arts. 3. The biggest investments in the arts are not done by growing the cultural budget but incorporating the arts into public infrastructure. 4. Even when working on serious subjects, like downturn revitalization, do not forget play and wonder. Read the entire article here: https://lnkd.in/e6P3Y-wc

The PARADOX OF FREEDOM How does a free society allow the existence of groups and organizations whose main purpose is to destroy their freedoms? By definition, freedom is a self destructing system - unless it has absolute protection. How do we introduce such protection and still feel free? ONE SMALL TOWN provides the answers. Join us, learn, implement. Www.onesmalltown.org In unity, Michael Tellinger.

Something about 2024 is triggering significant interest in the world of family business heritage. Müllerhaus Legacy has never been so busy! Nor have we ever been SO excited and filled with purpose! Since Christmas, we've started more projects than in the previous nine months combined. We've also gone from mostly regional interest to conversations with people in California, Colorado, Kansas, Illinois, Missouri, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Texas. New inquiries have included current owners (both young and old), former owners, and trusted HNW/UHNW advisors. And they're coming from our full-spectrum of outreach—outbound prospecting, inbound inquiries, networking connections, word-of-mouth, LinkedIn, and advertising. I've been doing this long enough to appreciate the correlation between cultural uncertainty and heritage preservation. Heritage can provide stability, conviction, identity, longevity, and clarity—all elements of traditions that anchor our souls amid upheaval and a loss of trust. We've got our work cut out for us, for sure. But time and tide wait for no man. Is your family or business heritage waiting to be discovered, preserved, or shared? If so, send me a note. Let's talk about how legacy can anchor you, your family, and your business in the storms that are sure to come. #familyhistory #familybusiness #familyoffice #legacy
