Technophilosophy, our Extended Minds and the joy of Rain
I've just spend a week with the TGS team, inside, getting the TGSU program ready for our members to e-meet with each other. We've been tied to phones, the internet and laptops. As the end of the summer sun shone bright, our summer tans disappeared.
All our technologies, when we use them massively, become part of our extended mind. Are you ever far from your phone or your laptop? We use these technologies automatically and they extend our perception. Like our glasses. Like our language.
It's a positive thing if we use technology well. Socrates used to complain about people writing stuff down ... but writing stuff down is still quite popular and is still frequently used today.
As a trusted advisor you are part of the extended mind of your clients. Our Language loops us into other people. Being a member of an international network like TGS can loop you into a whole world of knowledge and experience...but you have to use it frequently to get the full effect.
All that to say, I'm:
a) happy to be outside in the rain meeting some our our actual network members
b) happy that I will be meeting more of our network members in the 28 hrs of online workshops, webinars and meet-ups in TGSU. (Let me know in the comments if you'd like a copy of the TGS program...I'll send it to you)
