We partnered with Kyle and OpenView to launch the first PLG Rising 40. Here’s what we found after analyzing their GTM: 1.) Product-Led AND Sales PLG is defined by a self-serve buyer experience, but it's rarely rep-free. -- 69% have an Enterprise offer to compliment their free offers. -- 45% are hiring for sales right now. Some PLG risers have large sales teams, similar to sales-led companies. Sales represents 37% of Tines staff and 29% of Supermetrics. 2.) PLG + Community = ?? Rising 40 invest in community and audience building early and often. -- 71% have a community of some kind (vs 20% of similar sized SaaS companies) -- PLG Rising 40 has an avg of 155 LinkedIn followers per employee. Our full PLG index averages 86 per employee, while our full SaaS index averages 61. 3.) Freemium plans are not the only way to do free. -- 74% have a free trial -- 23% have free plan -- 17% have both. Redpanda Data promotes their free communities alongside their free trial CTA.? Copy.ai and Ahrefs offer several free tools like writing generators and traffic checkers. 4.) Growth ahead... Good news for tech workers: -- 78% of the PLG Rising 40 are hiring right now. -- 48% have open roles in Marketing -- 45% have open roles in Sales. Examples: Aha! Is hiring multiple CS and engineering roles in North & South America. incident.io is hiring for multiple sales & marketing roles in NYC, including sales manager. (s/o to them for including salary ranges & equity) Linear hiring for leadership positions in marketing and product design.
