A year ago we released PicoGK, our compact and robust #opensource geometry kernel for #ComputationalEngineering. Since then, people all over the world have used it for everything from #rocketengines , pre-coolers for #hypersonic planes, advanced #airconditioning systems, to bone #implants. But did you know you can use PicoGK for moving mechanisms — and see the animated result directly in the PicoGK viewer? Here is a great project Josefine worked on last year. The mechanisms that go into mechanical watches are surprisingly complex and take a long time to design by hand. But building a #ComputationalEngineering Model that captures the essence of watch mechanism design is an entirely logical process. In this video, we show you how to go from the position of the hands of a watch, directly to a functioning mechanism, designing 50 watch mechanisms in just a few minutes. Because the computational model knows how the mechanism functions, you can inspect the animated result in 3D in the PicoGK viewer. We use our computational model for mechanical objects to design complex gear interactions for micromechanics and other fields. #PicoGK is free and #opensource. Ease and Efficiency of Using Pestroniks Innovations FLYght Duo UV LED Insect Light Trap (ILT) Introducing the Pestroniks Innovations Pte Ltd FLYght Duo UV LED Insect Light Trap (ILT), launched in 2021, which set new standards in insect trapping technology. Crafted with durable aluminium, the FLYght Duo features eight UV LEDs and patented bio-Visual Enhancer (bio-VE+) technology, ensuring exceptional performance in attracting and trapping houseflies. The FLYght Duo utilises universal glue boards, providing customers with easy access for maintenance. To use the FLYght Duo, customers need to open the trap and remove the release paper from both halves of the universal glue board before inserting them back into the trap. Customers can maintain their traps through glue board changes in less than a minute, typically requiring a monthly replacement. Just posted a step-by-step tutorial on how to make a low-cost DIY turntable for photogrammetry. https://lnkd.in/e2NGsYTv I have been working on this personal project aiming to improve the photogrammetry speed of Williams College Makerspace student workers by at least 520% (from 5 hours to 45 minutes). The photogrammetry process with this turntable will be semi-automatic. The next iteration for this, which I probably will have to catch up on next Fall, will be integrating IR-sensors to trigger the cameras automatically at each iteration, which will make the process entirely automatic and faster than it is now! Open to suggestions!
