Today we’re taking a closer look at the Global Water Awards shortlist for Desalination Company of the Year, starting with ACWA Power. This Saudi powerhouse has cemented their position at the top tier of desal project development, with more than two decades of expertise,?and a portfolio of 8.35 million m3/d of successful seawater desalination. Last year, ACWA Power dominated the GCC desalination markets, securing four of the region's recent six independent water projects. With low bids at the Jubail 4&6, Ras Mohaisen, Hamriyah, and Hassyan IWPs (total 1.3 million m3/d), and the successful commissioning of the world's largest seawater RO project at Taweelah, they've proven themselves to be true masters of their craft. ACWA Power then burst into Central Asia for the first time with the 300,000m3/d Caspian SWRO project in Azerbaijan. They also strengthened their GCC presence by acquiring Kuwaiti and Bahraini holdings?in a $700 million deal.
