Symvan Capital Exit News There is a remarkable reluctance to discuss losses when presenting venture capital exits in the context of the overall portfolio, even though it is what every investor wants to understand. If I invest ￡100 into an EIS or VCT fund, what is my return after considering both the gains and losses in a portfolio? More importantly, what is my 'after-tax return', as only the economically illiterate do not take this into consideration. It is with this in mind that allows Symvan Capital to be very pleased with our first exit of 2024. We have sold the entire position of a communication technology company for a somewhat modest 1.3 X return on initial cost of investment - but a much less modest 2.56 X after-tax return. For the baseball aficionados out there, this is more of an RBI than a Home Run, but we see it is a precursor for a flurry of M&A interest in our current portfolio. This is Symvan’s first exit during 2024 from two different funds, following the three exits of 2023. BTW one of those three exits was a writedown!
